We’ve recently partnered with County Councils Network to develop a new report on ‘The Forgotten Story of Social Care.’ Our research aims to put working age and lifelong disabled adults - who make up 40% of people receiving adult social care support in England - at the centre of the national conversation on social care. We hope the report will help start a discussion on the key topics and issues that can make a meaningful difference to people’s lives. You can read the full report on our website: https://ow.ly/I5rS50UaHtb #socialcare

Is this the future or present of food and drink manufacturing?  AI + digital printing replicating meat-products to a molecular level Robots carefully checking quails eggs for inconsistencies  Personalised diet supplements in drinks  Lights-out, no-humans-required factories  Drones checking vineyard microclimates  Consumer testing with 0 consumers It feels like the industry is in the middle of a revolution and that even outcomes which seem fantastical today will soon be everyday.  However, digital maturity in SMEs and large businesses across the UK varies greatly.  To help cut through the complexity and kickstart momentum at the speed required, we’ve just launched "Future Factory: Supercharging digital innovation in food and drink manufacturing" with The Food and Drink Federation at the Food and Drink Investment Summit.  Matching economic research, industry interviews and our team’s experience navigating complicated systemic challenges, the report: 💸Reveals the £billion size of the industry potential not yet being realised  🚧Highlights the obstacles standing in the way of achieving that  💡Provides tips and real world examples to overcome those issues Take a read and let us know what you think. What rings true? What additional ideas do you have from your experience, or extra obstacles you’ve spotted in your business?  Stay tuned for more as we join the FDF’s Technology Taskforce to work with industry to unlock the potential of the industry.  https://ow.ly/NhOF50Ub2vN

It's great to see the impact the Coronation Food Project has had on tackling food insecurity in just one year. We're proud to have partnered with FareShare UK on this project and look forward to continuing the journey to redirect surplus food to communities across the country.

Leading change in the grocery sector | Partner at Newton

I was honoured to be a guest at His Majesty the King's birthday surplus food festival earlier today. Not only were we celebrating the King’s birthday, the event marked the first anniversary of the Coronation Food Project. I’m extremely proud of the support we, Newton, have donated to the project to help uncover, and recover, millions of meals worth of food waste from the supply chain. This has been redirected to support people suffering food insecurity, through the great work of FareShare UK and The Felix Project. This is just the start though, as today we have also launched the Alliance Food Sourcing group within IGD (Institute of Grocery Distribution). The AFS group will bring together the food sector like never before and continue to drive forward the identification and recovery of surplus food. I’m excited about our ongoing support and the impact this can have for thousands of people. #coronationfoodproject

Today we’ve launched our “The forgotten story of social care report” alongside County Councils Network, which highlights the opportunities for improving outcomes for working age and lifelong disabled adults. This report - the first output from this longer programme of research - aims to put these individuals at the centre of the national conversation on #socialcare and to help start a discussion about the key topics and issues that can make a meaningful difference to people’s lives. The report was launched at the CCN conference by Daniel Sperrin alongside Minister for Care Stephen Kinnock MP and a copy can be read here https://ow.ly/Y3Ii50U49xt

Next week we’ll be at the NHS Providers Annual Conference and Exhibition with friends and colleagues from across the NHS for two days of sharing best practice and hearing about the latest innovations in health and care. It is a privilege to support this pillar event every year. We’re particularly excited to hear our clients from Leeds Health and Care Partnership talk about the amazing impact of the HomeFirst programme which has seen system partners come together to deliver a new model of intermediate care resulting in improved outcomes for residents, and an enhanced staff experience. Over the next week we’ll be sharing our reflections from the conference so keep an eye out for updates, and if you’re attending please do come and say hello.

Did you know that by 2040, 9.1 million people in England will be living with a major illness? That’s 2.5 million more than in 2019. Health and care systems are experiencing increased demand, driven by an aging population and increasingly complex care needs, and projections suggest that this challenge is not going to get any easier. To cope with these pressures and ensure the best possible health outcomes for citizens, the shift from treatment to preventative care is seen as essential to the way that health and care is delivered in the UK. We recently partnered with NHS Confederation, the University of Stirling and the University of Southampton to better understand the barriers to unlocking preventative health and care within integrated care systems. The outputs of this research have been published in a report which examines the reasons why the shift to prevention is so complex. Recognising those barriers and challenges, we have also published a guide which explores practical considerations, grounded in the realities of today’s pressures, for leaders looking to move forward decisively with the delivery of their strategic prevention agenda by demonstrating impact in the short term. It outlines how system action can unlock prevention and, by taking a proactive targeted approach to prevention, improve outcomes and relieve some of the pressures of today, while building momentum for long-term transformation.
