We (Nexer Digital) had a fantastic day delivering an inclusive design workshop with the brilliant team at Digital Independent Specialist College (DISC) Manchester and SENDcode. Today’s session was about how important it is to think past WCAG guidelines and make sure that you’re keeping user needs at the heart of your work to deliver great products and services. Our recent partnership with DISC aims to support individuals with access needs find full-time employment. One shining example is Ryan Hill, a recent graduate and an exceptional developer who has joined our team. In return, we’re gaining valuable insights into the incredible work they do to break down the barriers that often prevent people with access needs from thriving and building successful careers. The European Accessibility Act (EAA), which comes into effect in June 2025 is an opportunity for financial services organisations to not only reach compliance, but create truly accessible products and foster inclusive cultures and teams. 🚀 Nexer #Weeknotes: Here's just some of what our teams have been up to this week: - Jade-Marie Fleuriot has been working on our inclusive language guide, which we’re preparing to share publicly soon - Ryan, our first work placement through our new relationship with Digital Independent Specialist College (DISC) Manchester, started work with us - Robin and Isabel, our two T-Level students, and Iqra our Manchester Digital Software Development apprentice, have been looking at some internal initiatives, including creating processes for building accessible word clouds and reviewing our sustainability data - The Access at Nexer Employee Resource Group had their monthly meetup, discussing topics including Lisa Matthews, PhD's Neurodivergent Ways of Working Guide project - We launched a free new webinar on how #Copilot can support inclusion and collaboration, scheduled for 28th November.
