As part of our Six-Week Season of Festive Giving, colleagues across the business are using their volunteering leave to support local causes and make a positive impact in our communities. Today, our Group Operating Executive is at MammaKindbabybank, a baby bank in London, where they are helping to sort donations for families in need. MammaKind is a fantastic charity which supports struggling families with children under five in south-east London, including the boroughs of Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich, and Lewisham, in partnership with a network of referral agencies. The majority of the families they support are headed by a single mother and many face additional disadvantages, such as disability or having experienced violence, and have no recourse to public funds. We encourage everyone to take advantage of their volunteering leave to help us achieve our goal of making a positive difference in the communities where we operate. #Volunteering

What an amazing achievement Sam! 👏 #TeamPPP
NG Bailey’s Matthew Bailey, who works on our Sellafield Product and Residue Store Retreatment Plant (SRP) project, recently scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, raising funds for The Steve Prescott Foundation, which supports cancer treatment and transplant research. Matthew and a team raised over £5,700 to support charities like The Christie Charity and The RFL Benevolent Fund. This challenging journey tested his physical and mental strength while supporting a cause dedicated to helping others. Matthew shared: “I agreed to the challenge after a 30-second call with a friend. It’s so easy to overthink, but sometimes the best decision is just to say yes. The rewards - from training and preparation, to meeting new people and forming lifelong friendships, are truly amazing. “International Men's Day is a great reminder of the challenges men face with health and wellbeing. Breaking the silence around stress and mental health struggles is vital, as is addressing the stigma of vulnerability. “Prioritising regular check-ups, staying physically active, and having open conversations can make a massive difference. Taking on challenges like these benefits, not only great causes, but also your own wellbeing.” #TeamPPP | #IMD2024 | #ITSOKAYTOTALK

We’re proud to announce two new contracts with First Bus as the principal contractor to support its transition to electric buses at depots in Hengrove and Minehead in the West of England. The contracts will see NG Bailey providing the design and installation of new charging facilities, including the construction and civils works, and associated low voltage electrical infrastructure. At the Hengrove depot in Bristol, we will create capacity to charge the 74 new electric buses joining the city’s network as First Bus looks to transition to carbon neutral transport solutions. At Minehead, Somerset, we will install four new ultra-rapid chargers at the depot. Both projects are set for completion by early 2025. Alex Chilvers, EV Director at NG Bailey, said: “If the UK is to meet its ambitious decarbonisation goals, the adoption of electrical vehicles across the region’s public transport network is critical. “We’re pleased to be working with First Bus to deliver the infrastructure they need to make this happen and will be working closely with local contractors and suppliers, ensuring that these investments deliver not just for the local environment but also the local economy.” Doug Claringbold, First West of England’s Managing Director, added: “This is a real ground-breaking moment for the West of England, as we see the first signs of a new electric, zero-emission era for bus travel in our region. “We’re proud to be investing more than £50m into electrification projects across the West of England which supports First Bus’ commitment to have a zero-emissions fleet by 2035.” #NetZero #ElectricVehicles #PublicTransport

We are currently working with Sir Robert McAlpine on a major project in the heart of Bristol. Our Offsite manufacturing and Engineering teams have collaborated throughout the design phase to maximise project opportunities. We have delivered 1200 horizontal module frames, 17 riser modules, and 26 plant skids to form the two plant rooms, saving over 40,000 hours on-site. The contract will involve providing various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, including an interface to the Bristol City district heating network, water source heat pumps, heat recovery units, solar panels, and LED lighting. 👷 An excellent achievement in both project coordination and construction for our client. #OffsiteManufacture

This was our first year participating in Learning at Work Week, and we’re thrilled with the judges' positive feedback on our learning programme. Learning at Work Week was a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to pause, reflect, and focus on their development and we continue to refine and expand our offering. A huge thank you to all our colleagues who got involved. 👏
The Campaign for Learning Impact Award for Supporting Business and Organisational Goals is given to organisations that demonstrate how their #LearningAtWorkWeek campaigns support business strategies and address organisational needs. The most impactful Learning at Work Week campaigns start with clear objectives which are achieved through well-designed learning activities, marketing and communications for diverse workplace audiences. The 2024 winners and commended organisations demonstrated this with learning campaigns that ranged from driving greater cross-functional collaboration that enhanced the visibility of internal expertise, to fostering understanding and promoting the importance of inclusion across the business. 🏆 Congratulations to AND Digital and The Law Society, who were our joint winners in the large organisation category. 🏆 Our SME Winner was The Masonic Charitable Foundation and the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Care Co. Congratulations! 👏 Our Highly Commended organisations for this category are AMICULUM, Stewarts, Euromonitor International and NG Bailey.
