We coordinate and commission activity across North Central London to improve the health, care, and wellbeing of people in our five boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington.
We want to support people to live healthy lives in thriving communities – to achieve better health and better lives for all.
We work together with our residents, patients, and their families to design the services that they want to see. Our aim is that everyone has fair access to health and care services that anticipate and meet their individual needs at every stage of their lives.
Our Crisis Hub was recently featured on BBC Radio London, highlighting the role of this service in responding to NHS 111, crisis and Section 136 calls from across North London.
During the feature, Christiana Edwards-Aganmwonyi, one of our Clinical Support Workers, shared her experience of working night shifts at the Crisis Hub: “My role is ultimately working out how to provide support. It’s about reassuring the caller first and foremost, then actively listening to what they are saying and also what they are not articulating, then providing the appropriate care."
Are you ready to join a team making a tangible impact in people’s lives?
We’re looking for compassionate and skilled individuals to join our Crisis Hub team, supporting people during their most vulnerable moments.

🌟 Driving Change in Cancer Care 🌟
A few days ago, the North Central London Cancer Alliance hosted the first ever North Central London Cancer Conference.
Over 200 colleagues came together - from hospitals, primary care, the voluntary sector, commercial partners, charities, academia and more - to talk about how we're doing in the fight against cancer.
Our CEO Frances O'Callaghan gave an introduction to the context of cancer across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Islington and Haringey.
We took the opportunity to acknowledge some great progress (for example our survival rates in certain forms of cancer are the best in the country).
As Frances sets out, though, there's more we need to do - particularly around reducing waiting times, patient experience, and reducing inequalities.
Her talk 📽️ is well worth watching - check it out below... 👀 👂
And, a big thank you to other speakers on the day including Ali Malik, Prof Derralynn Hughes, Prof Geoff Bellingan, Dr Clare Stephens, Caroline Clarke, Pete Landstrom, Jodie Moffat, Neal Navani, Amanda Pritchard (and a whole host of others leading breakout sessions…!)

Our colleague Simone Brookes shares her powerful story for Stroke Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of acting fast, even when stroke symptoms seem subtle.
Her experience is a reminder that every second counts when it comes to recognising the signs of a stroke.

🎁 This Christmas, Give Back in a Life-Saving Way 🎁
With December around the corner, the NHS is urging everyone who can to donate blood and support patients in need.
Last Christmas, demand for the universal O negative blood type exceeded collections by over 300 units, putting immense pressure on hospitals during one of their busiest periods.
Appointments are open across England, especially in town and city centre donor centres. There’s a particular need for O negative, B negative, and black heritage donors to help meet the needs of those who require ethnically matched blood, such as patients with sickle cell.
Your donation could be the difference this holiday season.
Let’s work together to ensure blood stocks stay strong and support our communities when they need it most.
📅 Book today at blood.co.uk and give the best gift this Christmas – the gift of life.

🌟 Reflecting on an Inspiring Cancer Conference 🌟
On Tuesday, the North Central London Cancer Alliance hosted the first ever North Central London Cancer Conference at the Emirates Stadium.
It was a packed day – with over 200 colleagues joining – from hospitals, primary care, the voluntary sector, commercial partners, charities, academia and more.
The day was filled with engaging discussions, thought-provoking breakout sessions, working towards our shared commitment to improving cancer outcomes.
We took the opportunity to acknowledge some great progress, but also talk about what more we need to do. For example, in lung cancer we have almost doubled our 1-year survival rate – nearly 6 in 10 patients (58%) survive the first year after diagnosis – nearly 10% higher than the England average – and up from 3 in 10 in 2005. Over a quarter (27%) of patients are now living for more than five years after diagnosis – compared to just 10% in 2005.
But… as we heard from speakers including Ali Malik, Frances O'Callaghan, Prof. Derralynn Hughes, Prof Geoffrey Bellingan, Dr Clare Stephens, Caroline Clarke, Pete Landstrom, Jodie Moffat, Neal Navani (and a whole host of others leading breakout sessions…!)
…there is still more we can and need to do.
Particular focuses need to be to reduce inequalities, improve patients’ feedback on their care, and improve our performance on cancer waiting times.
We also were delighted to welcome Amanda Pritchard, CEO of NHS England, who took the time to acknowledge our progress, and highlight what an opportunity there is to go even further.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a success — from our inspiring speakers and session facilitators to all the attendees who shared their insights and ideas. The events team did a phenomenal job organising the day and ensuring everything ran seamlessly.
🎥 Watch the video below for a recap of this fantastic event and reaction from speakers above as well as David Probert of UCLH.

🩺 International Men’s Day 2024: Prioritising Men’s Health 🩺
Yesterday, we celebrated International Men’s Day, a day dedicated to recognising the contributions of men and raising awareness about the unique health challenges they face.
This year, we’re shining a light on men’s health with a powerful message from our colleague, Donal Markey, Pharmacist and Assistant Director of Programmes, who shared his cancer journey with incredible bravery.
Diagnosed with throat cancer in January 2023, Donal’s story is a testament to the importance of listening to your body, seeking help early, and leaning on the support available. He reminds us:
👉 “Don’t ignore it, don’t put it off, don’t self-diagnose—get it checked.”
His reflections on recovery, family support, and the role of healthcare professionals highlight why it’s so important for men to talk openly about their health and well-being.
💬 Let’s use International Men’s Day as a reminder to start conversations, break down stigma, and ensure men feel supported to live healthier, happier lives.

📢 Change NHS is our opportunity to make sure the voice of North Central London is heard. 📢
The government is starting a national conversation on the NHS and wants to hear people's view to help shape the 10 Year Health Plan.
We want to use Change NHS as an opportunity to improve people's health and care experiences and outcomes and create fairer access across #Barnet, #Camden, #Enfield, #Haringey and #Islington.
We are all working hard across our five boroughs, to provide better, more joined up health and care as a system, with the many brilliant and committed staff across the NHS, local councils and our brilliant voluntary and community partners each playing a unique role.
But we know there are challenges, and not everyone gets the quality of care and health they deserve. The Change NHS conversation is a chance for everyone to share their experiences and views for the improvements needed in the NHS and across all health and care services.
Don’t miss the opportunity to give the government your ideas.

🩸 Give the Gift of Blood This Christmas 🎄
This winter, the NHS is calling on us all to make a difference by donating blood. Last December, blood donations fell by 10%, creating a significant gap in supply during a crucial time for hospitals. Right now, nearly 100,000 appointments need to be filled to ensure there’s enough blood available for those in need, particularly O negative, B negative, and blood from black heritage donors.
Blood donations are vital all year round, but the festive period can be particularly challenging with rising demand for emergency care. By booking a blood donation appointment, you’re giving the most precious gift of all – the gift of life.
Help make a difference in someone’s life this holiday season.
Visit blood.co.uk to book your appointment.
Together, we can support our healthcare teams and patients who depend on these life-saving donations.
