In September, we celebrated Organ Donation Week by lighting up the entrance of University Hospital pink and installing artwork that tells the stories of organ donors that have saved multiple lives. 🖼The storyboards, installed by the NHS Blood and Transplant specialist nursing team at UHCW, share stories from families that lost a loved one who had signed up to the NHS Organ Donation Register, with the aim of raising awareness and starting conversations about the subject of organ donation. 🔗You can read more about this here: https://lnkd.in/e3GTvnu4 In September we also launched the ‘Proud to Make a Difference’ campaign, focused on showcasing and recognising the exceptional contributions of our colleagues💙 We installed our first round of artwork at University Hospital and the Hospital of St Cross, featuring case studies from colleagues. To date, we have installed 70 pieces of artwork across our sites, and we look forward to expanding this in the new year. 🔗Read more about the colleagues featured in the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/eQhHkRmh

✨At UHCW we’re always looking for new ways to innovate and improve the services we provide for our patients. We are leading the way in the NHS in using artificial intelligence (AI) and you can find out how it’s making a positive difference for patients in an article on The Times website. We’ve been working with IBM and other technology partners on a series of projects using techniques such as process mining and generative AI that have helped make us more efficient. One of these projects led to a reduction in the number of last-minute cancellations for Outpatient appointments which has enabled us to see hundreds of additional patients each week. 💙In July, we extended a warm welcome to more than 500 community services colleagues, as we took on the provision of adult community health services in Coventry. Our new colleagues have brought us another step forward in delivering more care in and closer to people’s homes, driving better outcomes for patients. Check out the pictures below to see some of our new teams👇 The NHS also celebrated its 76th birthday during July, with colleagues across the Trust hosting their own ‘Big Tea’ parties to mark the occasion🎉

💻The month of June was all about digital, as our innovative W8Buddy app scooped up the Empowering Patients Through Digital prize at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Digital Awards. Launched in 2022, W8Buddy was developed specifically for tier three weight management services. The first-of-its-kind platform can be accessed via phone or desktop and provides users with a personalised weight management plan to develop attitudes, beliefs, knowledge and skills to self-manage their health. ✨Continuing with June’s digital theme, we switched from paper-based records to an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) as part of one of the largest transformation programmes in our history. This major milestone, described as one of the most efficient technical roll outs seen by a Trust of our size, was the result of years of detailed planning by colleagues and teams💙

✨May marked our annual celebration of nurses and midwives for International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses Day. Events were in full swing across University Hospital and the Hospital of St Cross, as we gathered to recognise the world class care these colleagues deliver day in, day out. Our senior midwifery team visited colleagues on the wards to deliver gifts and treats to those on shift. We also held our annual awards ceremony which saw Gail Evans, Emma Fish, Carrie Daniels, Nicolas Aldridge, Julius Mukarati and Lynda Mott recognised with Chief Officer Special Commendation Awards. In keeping with tradition, the winner of our prestigious Florence Nightingale Award was crowned. This year saw Day Surgery Ward Manager at the Hospital of St Cross, Sorna Thomas, recognised for her exemplary leadership and support for her team. Research Sister, Subie Wurie also became the latest recipient of our unique DAISY Leader Award for her compassion and enthusiasm within our research department. Thank you all – you are a credit to the Trust!💙
