A new study funded by NIHR could mark a major step forward in improving early detection of mothers at risk of pre-eclampsia. The Screen and Treat with Aspirin (STARshiP) study will screen more than 200,000 women and their babies, and aims to find out if more people at risk of pre-eclampsia could be identified with a new simple test in early pregnancy, leading to transformed maternity care for those with the condition. Pre-eclampsia usually affects women during the second half of pregnancy or soon after their baby is delivered, with early signs including high blood pressure and protein in urine. https://lnkd.in/ektWVbDJ Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust The University of Manchester

🌳 People living in the greenest areas had up to 20% lower rates of anxiety and depression than those in less green areas. 🏞️ Every 10% increase in access to green and blue spaces was associated with a 7% reduction in risk of #anxiety and #depression. 🌻 Those in less affluent areas, where access to nearby green spaces is often limited, saw even stronger mental health benefits from increased access to green and blue spaces. These are some of the findings of a study of more than 2 million people in #Wales highlighting the impact of green and blue spaces (like parks, lakes and beaches) on #MentalHealth Over a decade, researchers analysed data revealing mental health benefits associated with greener environments. The researchers say increased greenery in towns and cities could improve mental health in the population, especially for people in more deprived areas and those with a history of anxiety and depression. 🎧 Find out more about this study in our #podcast: https://lnkd.in/eRPZ3n6X
