FESTIVAL 2025 | Gandini Juggling '𝑨𝑻 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑭𝑶𝑹𝑬𝑭𝑹𝑶𝑵𝑻 𝑶𝑭 𝑩𝑹𝑰𝑻𝑰𝑺𝑯 𝑪𝑰𝑹𝑪𝑼𝑺' 𝑸𝑼𝑰𝑬𝑻 𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑶𝑳𝑼𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵' The Guardian HEKA transcends boundaries, inviting spectators on a journey where objects materialise and vanish, levitate, and transform before their eyes. Yet, beneath the surface lies a tantalising question: 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? Above all, it is a celebration of the silliness and absurdity of entertainment, a homage to the delights of the absurd! Gandini Juggling was formed by world-renowned jugglers Sean Gandini and Kati Ylä-Hokkala and continues to be at the forefront of contemporary circus, reinventing and reinvigorating juggling for the 21st Century. Having performed 6,000+ shows in over 50 countries, we trust that this is not one to miss. 📅 13-14 MAY 📍 Norwich Playhouse 🎟️ Tickets Via our Website, https://lnkd.in/e6QEw8ag Thanks to | Howes Percival

CREATIVE SCHOOLS | River of Hope Last Saturday we had the privilege of seeing Sails, designed by young people across East Anglia, set sail down the river Yare. A huge thank you to Norwich Frostbite Sailing Club for offering their expertise to make it possible! River of Hope is an arts-based learning project that uses environmental themes and creative arts practice to help young people express their concerns about the climate crisis. The project is a partnership between Thames Festival Trust and Norfolk & Norwich Festival. We have worked with artist, Ali Atkins and ten primary schools in King’s Lynn and Great Yarmouth where children have created 40+ Sails. Each design has its own language and has been carefully considered and created using techniques such as print making and painting to convey the experience of being immersed in nature; discuss their concerns about climate change and the positive changes they would like to make. The Sails will feature as part of Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2025. We cant wait to share them with you all and celebrate the young people's achievements.

NORFOLK & NORWICH FESTIVAL | Charity Week In case you didn't know, Norfolk & Norwich Festival is a charity! We bring tens of thousands of people together in celebration and have been doing so for 252 years... Through our May Festival and our year-round programme of creative engagement that particularly focuses on improving the cultural offer for children and young people, we lead and support celebration, creativity and curiosity in communities across Norfolk and the region. Our vision is to use the power of the arts to make our part of the world a truly great place to live, work, learn and play and we couldn't do this without the help of those who kindly donate to our Festival. Thank you for supporting us! 📷️ Jo Hayes

THE NORWICH GUILDHALL | Update You may have noticed some work taking place on the Guildhall over the past few months. We caught up with Norwich City Council and Building contractors, MESSENGER BUILDING REPAIRS LIMITED to discover what they have been up to! ''We have been repairing the building. The repairs are like for like with the materials of the building and we aim to complete a repair that blends seamlessly with the rest of the fabric. We also aim to retain and protect as much of the original fabric as possible. We have completed areas of repointing with gallets* because when flint is worked into shapes to be inserted into the building, some are displaced. The process of working flints is called knapping. These shards are inserted into the joints between the flints to give the illusion of one solid material face. We are using a black mortar which was determined by mortar analysis we had taken from the building. (*Gallets are small shards of flint, that are taken from the larger stone to hold it in place in the Lime mortar) We are repairing damaged sections of stone with consolidation techniques such as mortar repairs and shelter coating. If the stone is damaged beyond repair, or no longer performs its function as a weathering, we are replacing it with a new piece of stone. The new stone is matched to the stone that we have removed and is found locally where possible'' THE GUILDHALL | History Built in 1407, the building was originally designed to house courts and prison cells for the city’s prisoners. It is notably larger than most guildhalls, with three chambers, while cities like York, Bristol, and Leicester only have one. The first major alteration took place in 1723 when the porch was rebuilt, and over the 19th and 20th centuries, the building saw significant changes, including the reconstruction of the porch in the Gothic revival style. The Guildhall narrowly avoided demolition in 1911. The plaques on the east end, dating back to the 16th century after the roof collapse, depict St. George on the left and the city arms on the right, though they have been heavily worn over time. The structure itself is built with a rubble core, flint facings, and various types of limestone.
