The Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Conference took place just over a week ago and we wanted to share this highlights video with you: https://lnkd.in/emJycJqk. The conference brought together clinical leads, clinicians, psychologists, social workers, and other key professionals for the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and share ideas to enhance MDT practices across Combined Healthcare.

About us
We provide mental health and learning disability care to 464,000 people predominantly living in Stoke-on-Trent and in North Staffordshire, deliver services through six clinical Directorates; Adult Mental Health Inpatient, Adult Mental Health Community, Substance Misuse, Learning Disabilities, Neuro and Old Age Psychiatry and Children and Young People's Services. We work from over 30 hospital and community-based premises; our main site is Harplands Hospital and provides the setting for most of our inpatient units. Corporate staff are based in Trentham. We provide services to people of all ages with a wide range of mental health and learning disability needs. Sometimes our service users need to spend time in hospital, however, we are often able to provide care in outpatient/community settings and in people’s homes. Our main NHS partners are North Staffordshire CCG and Stoke on Trent CCG; we also work very closely with the Local Authorities in these areas, as well as specialist commissioners. We also work closely with agencies which support people with mental health problems, such as the North Staffs Users Group, Approach, ASIST, Brighter Futures, Changes, EngAGE, North Staffs Huntington’s Disease Association, Mind, North Staffs Carers Association, Reach and the Beth Johnson Association. We provide a growing research and development programme in collaboration with local/regional research networks; extending the role of this function features in our future plans which include building our infrastructure to continue to deliver high-quality research across a range of mental health topics. We work in partnership with a range of educational establishments to support staff training, which also raises the Trust's profile, helps the wider healthcare community to improve mental health and learning disability services and ensures that staff keep up to date with best practice.

Last night, we had the incredible honour of attending the Nursing Times Workforce Awards as finalists for the Best Use of Workforce Technology with our Digital Tracker and Practice POD 🫛North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust . While it was not our year to win, the journey, collaboration, and impact of this project are a victory in themselves! A heartfelt thank you to our Chief Nurse Kenny Laing , Deputy Chief Nurse Zoe Grant , and Practice Education and Preceptorship Lead Fungai Musonza, who stood with us and championed our achievements. This project would not have been possible without the vision and dedication of Paida Todd , our inspirational Project Lead Nurse from PICU, who helped shape this idea into the impactful initiative it has become. To the Practice Education Team and our brilliant newly qualified nurses Princely, Justina Nwuzor , and Khadijatou Bah, your energy and commitment inspire us all. A special mention goes to our Practice Assessors and Practice Supervisors, who continue to pour their hearts into supporting and nurturing the next generation of nurses. You are the backbone of our success. To Rachel Bloor, our Head of Nursing, thank you for believing in me and offering me that secondment opportunity when I was fresh out of qualification. That moment changed everything and set me on this path. This project has proven the power of nurses as citizen developers taking charge to create bespoke solutions that enhance patient care. With the support of our Digital Team and the incredible tools available through the Microsoft Power Platform, we harnessed the opportunity and turned an idea into a reality. I vividly remember a conversation where someone from the team said, “If the Power Platform is available, then use it”. That was the spark, and we, as nurses, rose to the challenge. Thank you to our Trust Executive Board for supporting digital innovation at every turn. As our Chief Executive Buki Adeyemo often says, it’s not just about what we do, but how we do it and this project exemplifies that spirit. To close, let me share a quote that encapsulates our journey: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Here’s to dreaming big, working together, and pushing boundaries to create a better future for our patients and our profession. 🚀✨ #DigitalInnovation #NursingLeadership #Inspiration #Teamwork #PracticeEducation #CitizenDevelopers #NursingTimes #ProudToBeANurse 💙

The national NHS Staff Survey closes tomorrow! If our colleagues have not yet filled it in, we encourage you to do so as your opinions really do make a difference. Take a look at this video, showing how ideas given in last year's survey resulted in positive change at Holmcroft Surgery:

At Combined Healthcare, we believe in the power of stories. The trust is committed to involving service users and carers in decision-making, so experience-led feedback can ultimately help inform changes made across the trust that improve the way we deliver care. There are many routes available to give feedback and one way to do this is by sharing your Patient Story, a short video which we support you to film about your experience of care at our trust. Please contact the Communications team if you are interested in sharing your own story or supporting an individual to share their story by emailing communications@combined.nhs.uk.

With only 4 days to go for staff to complete the NHS Staff Survey, we wanted to remind Combined Healthcare teams of the importance of filling out the survey and sharing their voices. With a 'You said, we did' approach, here are colleagues from the Mental Health Liaison Team telling us about the positive changes that occurred after giving feedback in their staff survey. Watch here: https://lnkd.in/e4zmPsKG

It was an absolute honour to present alongside Louise Stockdale (Webster) to the board of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System this afternoon. Thank you for the warm welcome! Louise and I shared the development of our community energy scheme, Keep Warm, Keep Well, which Beat the Cold delivers with University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust and STAFFORDSHIRE COMMUNITY ENERGY. We were also able to share a patient story from the fuel poverty interventions that we’ve been delivering through the innovative new pilot using One Health and Care digital shared care records. Thank you to the ICS and North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust among other partners for enabling this vital work. We’ll soon be expanding to reach 1000 more patients. Watch this space! When we bring together healthcare with the voluntary sector to reach our communities, we are delivering the very essence of a truly integrated care system.
