The wait is almost over – tomorrow we roll out the pink carpet for the hometown premiere of Smoggie Queens at Middlesbrough Town Hall🎬 This event marks a milestone for the North East’s rapidly growing screen industry, where production has increased by 89% in the past two years. Smoggie Queens is produced by Hat Trick Productions, and has been supported by the North East Production Fund. The North East Production Fund, managed by North East Screen is delivering rapid growth in the North East, driving inward investment, creating jobs and increasing visibility of our growing infrastructure. We are delighted that Phil Dunning, writer/performer from the region, has been supported to tell a local story that resonates with national and international audiences. He has written and stars in Smoggie Queens which starts on BBC Three at 10.10pm on Thursday 28th November and on BBC iPlayer. This week, the cast of Smoggie Queens made an appearance on The One Show, ahead of the big pink-carpet premiere taking place in Middlesbrough next week! They spilled the tea on the show and what it was like filming in the North East. As part of Creative Careers Week, the skills team participated in a panel event organised by NECA and Gateshead College, discussing pathways for young people to enter the screen industry. They also held an Assistant Director workshop in Darlington for those starting out in the industry, providing valuable insights into the AD role. Thank you to 1st AD Mark Roberts for coming along and sharing your experience at the event. Alison Gwynn represented North East Screen at Vision 31 in London, speaking on The Power of the North East panel and highlighting the region's growing screen industry. The Talent and Business team took part in the RTC North Tees Valley Supply Chain Showcase, engaging with businesses about current gaps in the screen industry supply chain and exploring opportunities for businesses to get involved.
