Exciting news! Richard Ashcroft, the legendary front man of The Verve, will be joining Oasis on their upcoming tour. In July this year we were honored to produce the opening montage sequence for Richard's iconic Wigan shows, showcasing his musical career and celebrating his roots in Wigan. What's even more incredible is that Richard is also an avid supporter of our company. In an interview in July Richard said: "There's a lot I've seen and hear about Northern Heart that's exciting." Always love screening a 'Behind-the-scenes" along with the main film at any event. I'm always pleased to see the awe on audience's faces when they get to see all the hard work and professionalism that goes into filmmaking. Because this has been a wonderful collaboration between our Northern Heart Doc Fund graduate Matthew Reese, Media Trust, Santander UK Foundation and Northern Heart. Natasha Hawthornthwaite has done an amazing job facilitating this collaboration, putting Matty forward to direct what would be his first professional directing opportunity. Scott was in Derbyshire yesterday filming with light artist, Matt Tully, as he prepares his latest work for #LightUpTheNorth. What he found really fascinating was the different skills required to create light art, from engineering, understanding various software, to prop development, there are so many elements that go into the incredible work we all see at light festivals. When speaking with Matt, it was clear that at the core of all his work is storytelling, and this particular piece for festivals this year is heavily inspired by a children's book that his daughter absolutely loves. The next time Scott catches up with Matt will be in Lancaster, for Light Up Lancaster! Which light festival will you be attending this year? #LightArt

"Beyond the Hedgerows", was the panel discussion Natasha Hawthornthwaite and Scott Bradley (Northern Heart) held this morning at Bolton Film Festival. The panel featured three brilliant filmmakers, Dom Bush from Land & Sky Media, Juliet Klottrup and Zillah Bowes, each with their own unique perspectives and creative practices. The discussion centered around the challenges and opportunities of forging a creative career whilst living within rural communities. We've got an interesting few weeks ahead of us attending a couple of events in London and at Bolton Film Festival. On the 1st of October Scott Bradley (Northern Heart) & Natasha Hawthornthwaite will be in London for the UK premiere of "Medicine Man", a feature documentary directed by Paul Michael Angell, who we've had the pleasure of working with this year on a project shot in Kenya with Iambic Dream Inc. There will be a Q&A after the screening hosted by Rob Delaney. "Beyond the Hedgerows" will be exploring the works of rural filmmakers Dom Bush, Juliet Klottrup and Zillah Bowes. Then on the 5th of October we've been invited to the North West Filmmakers Forum, a gathering of Producers, Writers, Directors, Crew, Facilities and Suppliers, which will inform a framework for building a better regional ecosystem. It will be a chance to develop a local network of media professionals, exploring challenges, opportunities and the potential to establish Bolton Film Office. * So if anyone is around in London on the 1st of October or around during Bolton Film Festival then please do get in touch.
