“Brokers are telling us that first-time buyer activity is on the up, but that the financial — and lifestyle — needs of these buyers are evolving, which means the market must too."   Our research found that 82 per cent of mortgage brokers have experienced an uptick in first-time buyer activity in the past year. According to brokers, this increase stems from “significant changes” in the finances and lifestyles of applicants, many of which are not currently being met by the market.   We want to change that, which is why we are prioritising the adoption of innovative new technology to make the application experience smoother and faster for brokers. “The choice between pursuing your passions and owning a home should not be one that anyone has to make." Our research found that 58% of 18-24-year-olds, along with 48% of 25-34-year-olds, dream of starting their own business but worry about how it could affect their ability to qualify for a mortgage. We want to change that, which is why we're constantly looking for ways to make our mortgages more accessible as part of our evolution into a specialist lender. We’re delighted to announce two key appointments to our Executive Committee, further strengthening our commitment to customer excellence and innovation. 🟢 Harriet Guevara (pictured below) has been appointed Chief Savings Officer, leading savings products, proposition, and innovation. Since joining in 2017, Harriet has played a pivotal role in shaping our commercial strategy, making her well-placed to drive our savings strategy forward into the future. 🟢 Sally Gaudion takes on the role of Chief Customer Officer, overseeing our branches, savings operations, and customer experience. With a customer-first mindset, Sally will be supported by Charlotte Symonds, who has stepped up to become Director of Customer, as we continue to develop our customer-first strategy. These latest appointments reflect our focus on building an organisation obsessed with understanding and serving our customers brilliantly, safely, and securely. Congratulations to Harriet, Sally, and Charlotte on their new roles! 👏

We're now a couple of days on from our all-colleague event, where we brought our valued team together to discuss working together and how we can make 2025 our best year yet. The lessons learned and insights gathered are already having a positive impact on the work we do, and we're looking forward to that continuing.

We were thrilled to see our very own Praven Subbramoney featured as Headlinemoney 'Commentator of the Week' after sharing his insights on the renewed optimism being felt by mortgage brokers. "It is promising to see brokers’ optimism and feeling of resilience within the sector compared to a year ago, especially within the context of ongoing economic challenges and the pace of change across the sector." Despite the challenges the current environment brings, Praven highlighted that "an ongoing dialogue with brokers to understand their concerns and pressures" is the key to progress. https://lnkd.in/eVQxr7kT
