We were delighted to attend yesterday’s Marine Energy All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) meeting at Westminster. The event was chaired by Alistair Carmichael (MP for Orkney and Shetland) and it was the first gathering since the formation of the new government in the summer. The Marine Energy All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) brings together MPs and members from the House of Lords, from across the political spectrum that share an ambition to make the UK the world leader in developing, deploying and exporting marine energy technology and GB expertise around the world. The purpose of the APPG is to promote the economic, supply chain and energy security benefits from the development of marine energy resources in and around the UK. Nova’s Chief Business Officer, John Meagher, presented at the event, providing MPs with insight on the exciting developments in the tidal stream industry and the UK’s world leading position. Working closely with our MPs is important for shaping innovative policies that protect our oceans while advancing renewable energy.
