Catch up on our research to find out how the #NHS should go about preventing people with a learning disability from dying too young. 👇

The NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) RSET programme – run by the Nuffield Trust, UCL and University of Cambridge - has reported back on the first phase of its project on AI in chest radiology, to help guide AI rollout across hospitals and new imaging networks. This phase looked at the experiences of early adopters – including the barriers and enablers for AI procurement, preparation and deployment – and makes recommendations for local and national implementation. Phase 2, coming in 2025, will investigate the impact of chest AI in practice, including its clinical and financial effectiveness and patient and carer experiences. This morning DHSC has announced an uplift in funding for the 2025-26 GP contract. Government also needs to tackle the distribution of funding within general practice to address long-standing inequalities between richer and poorer areas. Here's our response from Dr Becks Fisher: https://buff.ly/3ZE0Lmg

Yesterday’s local government finance settlement for England allocated some extra money for social care provision by local authorities, as well as initial moves towards fairer funding for councils. However, additional costs due to measures in the recent Autumn Budget still mean councils face tough choices ahead on social care provision. NEW BRIEFING - General practice funding is inequitable: the Carr-Hill formula, which decides the distribution of funding, is outdated and fails to take account of socioeconomic deprivation. 💷 We propose replacing Carr-Hill with a needs-based formula to make GP funding fairer and reduce health inequalities. ✍ Briefing by Becks Fisher, John Ford, Liam Loftus, Ian Holdroyd, Health Equity Evidence Centre: https://lnkd.in/gGFyZq7B

Bringing care closer to home: three questions that need answering... 1️⃣ What does shifting care into the community actually mean? 2️⃣ What is moving care out of hospital likely to improve, and what is it unlikely to improve? 3️⃣ Why have previous efforts failed, and what needs to be different this time? Our new long read from Sarah Jane Reed and Thea Stein explores these unresolved questions that the government must answer as it aims to shift more care from hospital to community: https://lnkd.in/eqmu99P6
