Having just received planning permission and listed building consent, we are now progressing to technical design of the conversion of the late Georgian buildings which formed part of a now closed special needs school in the Cotswold town of Fairford. Our proposals on behalf of Acorn Property Group will convert the terrace of buildings known as Coln House to four large family houses. These will be joined by a fifth new house of contemporary design. Coln House is part of the comprehensive re-development of the former school site mixing new build with the conversion and restoration of the best of the old. Construction of the first phase of 17 houses is underway.

We have hugely enjoyed working with the team at Acorn Property Group to bring this beautiful site to life. It's going to be a wonderful place to live.
🔍 Discover: Fairford Green We are excited introduce our latest investment opportunity, Fairford Green. Fairford Green is an exclusive new development in the highly desirable Cotswolds market town of Fairford. The project will introduce 17 sustainably designed homes, including 2, 3, and 4-bedroom houses, and two 1-bedroom apartments. Additionally, a 12,000 sq ft Grade II listed former school will be carefully converted into a terrace of 4 and 6-bedroom homes, retaining many original features to enhance their character. Each home will boast a high-quality specification. We encourage interested investors to act quickly to take advantage of this opportunity. *Capital is at risk and not all investments will be suitable for all investors #fairfordgreen #fairford #cotswolds #gloucestershire #PropertyInvesting #alternativeinvestments #PropertyDevelopment

On the drawing board Summer 2024 - what the team at Chapel House are working on. Firstly, we continue to work on lots of residential developments, from a 25 apartment new build project in Bath, a Listed Building conversion on a Georgian square in Bristol, as well as a larger development of new build houses, and the conversion of historic buildings in the Cotswolds. We are also honoured to be working with a number of community and faith organisations on both new build and reconfiguration and refurbishment projects. These projects, with diverse end users, complex briefs and tight budgets, really stretch our design muscles. Add in a Grade II* listing on one, and we really have to be at our best. That is why we love working on them. Over the years we have developed considerable expertise in healthcare. We enjoy helping the sector to improve patient care through upgrading and expanding facilities. Working in live patient environments with dedicated staff is always a challenge and an inspiration. We currently have a couple of such projects on site in one of our local hospitals. #listedbuildingconsent #ruralhousinguk #nhsarchitecture

We're delighted that planning permission has been granted for an O'LearyGoss designed detached house for Clifton College. Detailed proposals were developed swiftly following a feasibility study last spring for the site, currently home to a garage, shed and driveway. Drawing on established typologies, we designed a fairly traditional house externally to sit in harmony with the conservation area. Internally the large kitchen / dining / living space at ground floor, onto the garden, is designed to suit contemporary lifestyles. Thanks to client representative, Paul Williams, for trusting our skills and experience on a potentially contentious site. Also to Colin Pemble of Aspect360 Ltd - planning consultants, Ann Byatt of Johns Associates - ecology, Mike Andrews of Energy Saving Experts - energyAssessors and Adam Butler of Integral Building Control Solutions Ltd - approved inspectors. #PlanningPermission #ConservationArea #Architecture

Thank-you for the credit Acorn Property Group! This is a really exciting project that we're very happy to be working on. The brief to repurpose the full range of school buildings - from beautiful historic elements through staff cottages to contemporary houses - has allowed us to design new homes of many types. Looking forward to seeing this built. #residentialarchitecture #housing #Cotswold
We are really pleased to share that the #Cardiff team has completed on the site purchase of the former Coln House School site in the market town of #Fairford, Gloucestershire following unconditionally exchanging on contracts at the end of last year. Fairford is situated in the #Cotswold hills along the River Coln, close to Cirencester and Swindon. Notable nearby locations include RAF Fairford and the Cotswold Water Park. The project involves a number of old school buildings and spans 3.88 acres of land. The plan is to develop thirty-four homes, ranging from 1-to-5 bedrooms, in several phases. New building construction is slated to start in July with the first completions of homes forecasted for April 2025. We would like to thank Robert O'Leary from O'LearyGoss Architects, solicitors Kate Woodgate, Dani Bowen Emily Beauchamp at Howard Kennedy LLP and the agents Bruton Knowles. #sitepurchase #siteacquisition #propertydeveloper

Many thanks to Tilly Tilbrook CEcol of Integrated Ecological Solutions Ltd for an excellent presentation yesterday on the Biodiversity Net Gain legislation, the latest addition to UK planning control. It was good to hear about this complex and easily misunderstood subject from someone with such experience and knowledge. As well as upping our general knowledge around biodiversity, the main thing to note is that a skilled architect working with an experienced ecologist early in the design process will deliver biodiversity net gain in the most integrated and cost effective way. #BNG #BiodiversityNetGain #UKPlanning
