With the holiday season just around the corner, we wrapped up the year at our #OcadoTechnologyWrocław office by hosting the Conference test:fest meetup - an amazing event filled with learning, inspiration, and meaningful conversations! 🎄 Our Senior Test Engineer Wojciech Lizakowski took the stage to share insights on starting your journey with shift right testing. He explored how continuous delivery, paired with real-time production monitoring, alerting, and rollback processes, is reshaping feature delivery in the e-commerce world. Wojciech highlighted the importance of building safe environments to successfully adopt the shift-right methodology. A big shoutout to Dariusz Olszewski for a thought-provoking session on GraphQL as a modern alternative to REST APIs, and to the test:fest community for co-organizing such a vibrant event. Ocado Technology Sofia joined the 10th Anniversary Global Tour of the Code for Life platform, bringing the excitement of robotics and programming to some curious minds at the Hristo Botev School in Bistritsa village, near Sofia. 🏫✨ During our visit: - We introduced the fascinating world of robotics and programming 🤖💡 - Encouraged the young students to create their own robots - Guided them in using the Code for Life program to take their first steps in coding 🚀 It was inspiring to see the creativity and enthusiasm of these young minds as they explored the possibilities of technology! Simulations have been fundamental to Ocado Technology's evolution. Great to read our CDO Gabriel Straub’s take on this in WIRED ➡️ https://lnkd.in/edHXkHky. One of the most exciting areas in this space is our bot orchestration system simulation - certainly one of the most compelling applications of digital twin technology I have encountered. Every day, we take live data from our operational systems and feed it into the simulation, creating a model that mirrors our live environment as closely as possible. This allows us to explore optimisation questions with incredible accuracy, such as: 🔹What happens if we add more bots? 🔹How can we optimise layouts to improve performance? 🔹Where’s the best spot to position robotic picking arms? This capability allows us to make confident decisions grounded in data that reflects real-world conditions and helps us deliver designs tailored to the specific needs of each of our partners. Kudos to Gabriel for shining a light on this part of our journey and to all our teams driving these advancements forward!

Excited to see our CDO Gabriel Straub highlight Ocado Technology's use of in-house simulation technology in this WIRED write-up with AlixPartners ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gfqDTXKD From the very start, automation has been at the heart of what we do. It’s how we’ve been able to deliver a great customer experience while keeping operations as tight as possible. But what’s changed over the years is how we approach it. Simulations have helped us: ✅ Validate the shift from our past conveyor-based systems to ‘The Hive’ ✅ Optimise Grid layouts and sizes ✅ Determine the best spots for robotic pick stations and bot chargers ✅ Migrate our bot orchestration system from on-premise to the cloud ✅ Validate the best product designs by testing in virtual environments And much much more. By simulating different scenarios, we can spot potential problems early and make better decisions with confidence. To illustrate how central this has become: last year alone, we simulated over 66,000 days of CFC operations. That’s 183 years’ worth of learning packed into just one year! These tools are now a core part of how we innovate - not just for product improvements but also in helping our partners enhance their own operations. Shout out to Gabriel for shining a light on our innovation journey, and kudos to all our simulation teams who have built world-class capabilities in this space.
