What does it take to conquer some of the world’s toughest challenges and harshest elements? Join us for our next FREE Ocean Conversations evening talk on Tuesday the 23rd of January as we showcase two of our extraordinary fundraisers, Adam and Charlie from Emergensea Duo! These extreme medicine doctors have rowed across the Atlantic, circumnavigated the British Isles, and most recently swam an ice kilometre at both poles. This will be an opportunity to learn more about taking on some of the toughest challenges on Earth and hear more about the extreme limits the human body can be pushed to. 📅 Don’t miss out—secure your spot now! #OceanConversations #EmergenSeaDuo #Inspiration #Events

Last week, I finished my second placement with the wonderful Blue Meadows seagrass team at the Ocean Conservation Trust ! I have spent the last 3 months looking after, learning about, surveying, researching, and talking about seagrass- what a dream 🌱🤍 Everyone has been so supportive and inspiring, so a massive thank you to the whole team!!! (Get in contact with them, as a new internship will be available soon :) I have learnt so much about the successes and challenges of seagrass conservation and restoration, which has inspired my dissertation project. I will be growing my own little segarass plants to investigate the impacts of nutrient fertilisers on Zostera marina growth and health while growing them for restoration purposes. This will help inform Blue Meadows and other segarass nurseries on which fertiliser is the best option to produce a high biomass of healthy plants to be transplanted into the field 💚 I'm looking forward to working with Blue Meadows throughout my dissertation, but the end of this internship marks the end of my 6 month Placement Year!! Join our Ocean Habitats Team as they carry out some seagrass monitoring in Torbay! 🌱 By analysing water samples for eDNA, we will be able to collect genetic information left behind by animals in the water to monitor the biodiversity of Torbay's Seagrass meadows. Additionally, we used a quadrat to asses seagrass coverage in the area. #Seagrass #HabitatRestoration #Torbay

We were thrilled to hear that our colleagues at Falmouth Harbour, Cornwall have won Most Sustainable Medium Sized Organisation in the 2024 Cornwall Sustainability Awards. Entrants for this category demonstrated best practice for the benefit of the environment, their employees and the wider community and we couldn’t be happier to see the hard work of their teams recognised. 🌱 We're really proud to work with Falmouth Harbour Authority, who were the first Authority to partner in our Blue Meadows marker scheme, signposting fragile habitats on the seabed. ⚓To date we have 32 marker buoys deployed in the area, protecting around 30 hectares of precious seagrass meadows! Falmouth is one of the country’s most beautiful and protected marine areas. The Fal and Helford is a European Designated Special Area of Conservation with 60% of its area designated for sea inlets. These inlets support some of the UK’s most valuable and diverse habitats, seagrasses and Mearl beds. Huge congratulations to all involved on their much-deserved win!

We are over the moon to say we have raised a HUGE £18,420.75 for the Ocean's Voice, through the Big Give Christmas Challenge 🎉 We are now so excited to bring our communities together to create long lasting impact for our Ocean. Watch this space for more news to come in the New Year about our plans for the Ocean's Voice 👀 Conservation starts with people and you've proven just that. THANK YOU for believing in our mission and for all of your support. Another huge thank you to Ashfords LLP for being our pledge funder for the appeal and for making this opportunity possible!
