Our work on the Vyrnwy Aqueduct Modernisation Programme, and our investment into providing clean water to customers across the North West recently featured in the Water Industry Journal. OCU were awarded a contract by United Utilities to undertake modernisation works on all three pipelines as part of the modernisation between Tarporley and Norton Tower and extending to the River Mersey. OCU recently participated in a STEM event in partnership with our client Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, the SmartSTEMs charity and the University of Oxford.    The day helped to inspire a younger generation of engineers, align them with sustainability and social value objectives, and strengthen relationships with strategic partners across Oxfordshire.    OCU’s team hosted a workshop activity for children in years 5-8 teaching them about the power of water and building a dam.    We were glad to share insights into STEM career opportunities with the next generation, organisations and educators. #STEM #education #earlycareers #education #events #energy #power

Project Feature – Vyrnwy Aqueduct | Pipe pusher We recently invested in a new 200-tonne pipe pusher which is increasing slip lining sections to up to 1700m at a time, supporting efficient delivery on site. Our industry-leading equipment and approach reduce the impact on the local community with less space, plant and people required on site. The team named the unit ‘George’ after George Deacon, the engineer who originally designed the Vyrnwy pipeline. And ‘George’ recently completed his first 1500m continuous 900 HDPE pipe insertion on our Vyrnwy Aqueduct project. #pipepusher #water #plant #equipment #utilities #infrastructure
