*Dealing Imposter Syndrome in the Workplace*: “Imposter syndrome is a paradox: - Others believe in you - You don't believe in yourself - Yet you believe yourself instead of them. If you doubt yourself, shouldn't you also doubt your judgment of yourself? When multiple people believe in you, it might be time to believe them.” This insightful quote by Adam Grant encapsulates the essence of #Imposter #Syndrome, a psychological phenomenon where individuals struggle to internalize their #achievements and often feel like frauds despite clear evidence of their competence. Recognizing the signs of Imposter Syndrome is crucial for professionals in the workplace. Common signs include: 🌻 #Perfectionism: The belief that one must always perform flawlessly. 🌻 #High #expectations: Taking on multiple roles and feeling guilty when unable to meet these demands. 🌻 #Unrealistic #standards: Setting excessively high goals and fearing failure, which fosters feelings of inadequacy. 🌻 #Comparison #thinking: Constantly measuring oneself against peers or high achievers, leading to self-doubt. 🌻 #Negative #self-talk: Engaging in self-critical thoughts, such as "I am not good enough." I will be exploring suggestions for navigating this journey and outline approaches Leaders can take to support professionals effectively as many of "US" struggle with this. Perhaps some reflective questions that professionals who struggle with this or who may want to help individuals in this journey can include: ✨ How can we support among colleagues dealing with Imposter Syndrome in the workplace? ✨ What strategies have you found helpful in overcoming feelings of self-doubt? #ImposterSyndrome #SelfBelief #SelfDoubt #SelfWorth #Leadership #Coaching #

Tomorrow, I’ll be exploring Purpose with Laurence McCahill, Co-Founder of The Happy Startup School, for an event we're running for the OneUpOneDown Purpose & Direction mentorship cohort! Having Laurence as part of this session holds a special place in my heart. My journey toward discovering purposeful work began 10 years ago when I started Mum’s Garage. Around that time, I stumbled upon a website that became my brand muse. Back then, it was called Spook Studio. By a serendipitous turn of events, as I was drawing inspiration from the humanness and creativity of this site, I watched it evolve into The Happy Startup School. Laurence and Dr. Carlos Saba's work with The Happy Startup School became my North Star—an example of the kind of purposeful creation I aspired to bring into the world. The content, frameworks, and ethos they shared, along with their approach to communicating a new way of building businesses and living with purpose, shaped how I approached business. I’m excited to dive into this conversation with Laurence, sharing his wisdom, insights, and deeply human approach to purpose, along with the other mentors and mentees in this cohort. The group photo was taken at the 2018 Happy Startup School Ashram gathering in India 🤍 #purpose #leadership #mentorship

  • Do you find yourself saying “sorry” too often? Perhaps even for things you’re not truly sorry for, once you take a moment to reflect? "Cathy, my first official mentor, taught me a powerful lesson: the difference between apologising and asking for forgiveness." – Natalie Robinson This was a lesson Cathy had learned from her own mentor, and it’s one she continues to share with others. In our latest mentor blog, Cathy Sommerville shares her experience learning this insight, exploring why asking for forgiveness can be far more meaningful than apologising. Thank you, Cathy Sommerville, for your wisdom and the inspiration you’ve given to so many women. Your mentorship continues to create ripples of positive change. Today, I had an incredible first conversation with my mentor, diving into our shared journeys and the flow of life. We explored the "why" behind starting a new business, crafting strategy with purpose, and aligning personal goals with the greater good. Our discussion deepened my thoughts on working for planet, people, and environment, inspired by the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals —ambitious and vital benchmarks for transforming the world. I'm feeling energized and grateful for the clarity that comes from meaningful dialogue and purposeful alignment. Thank you to Natalie Robinson for creating this purpose-led and inspiring mentorship programme OneUpOneDown . And thank you to the beautiful human I filled my cup with this morning Kath Knight. ⭐As we conclude our 2024 Mentoring Programme, we're thrilled to reflect on its incredible impact on our mentees this year. The feedback makes clear how valuable mentorship can be for personal and professional development. ➡️We have included a couple of comments below. You can read more on our blog. https://lnkd.in/evyXs7D9 💚 "This was my first time working with a mentor. The experience is valuable as it makes me talk to someone who gives me quality guidance and fresh insights. Having someone to bounce ideas off and get feedback from is super helpful, and it definitely gave me confidence."— Annika 💚 "A key learning for me from my mentorship experience has been working with my own abilities and strengths, especially as an individual who is neurodivergent. I urge everyone to consider mentorship as the perspective and self-belief it has given me is invaluable."— Ellis 💚To everyone who participated - both mentees and mentors - thank you for making this year’s programme such a success. Your dedication, openness, and drive are inspiring.  🙏Many thanks also to OneUpOneDown for their support and patience as we pilotted their innovative mentoring software for the first time. Also thanks to Rhian at Women in Sustainability Network for again providing excellent training for our mentors. ➡️Calling all mentees & mentors! If you’d like to share your feedback to highlight your experience in our blog or social media, we’d love to hear from you! Reach out to Traci at traci@catalysechange.com. #mentoring #mentoringmatters #sustainability #careerdevelopment

  • Women’s stress cycles remain largely under-researched. After facing multiple burnouts as a two-time founder, Emily Serebryany, CPC, co-founded the Female Leadership Evolution Institute alongside Nathalie van Haaren. Their mission? To prevent burnout and help women manage stress using the latest scientific insights into women’s unique stress responses, biology, and physiology. Did you know women’s stress cycles are shaped by both daily (circadian) and monthly (infradian) rhythms, while men primarily adhere to circadian rhythms? Most workplace schedules are designed around male physiology, overlooking women’s natural energy fluctuations. What can we do to change this? In our guest blog with Emily, we explore her experience with burnout and how women can better understand and manage their stress cycles. 👉 Read the blog here: https://lnkd.in/g5JU4CZA 👉 Contribute to this important research by completing the survey: http://bit.ly/3USjsBa Let’s rewrite the narrative around stress and burnout for women. #BurnoutPrevention #WorkplaceWellness #WomenInLeadership
