It tells us that disinformation can’t be fully prevented but can be managed through media literacy, fact-checking, and improving access to trustworthy information. How do policymakers decide what research to use when creating SDG-related policy? Do they rely on traditional research quality metrics? Not as much as you might think! Other factors could play an equal if not bigger role in shaping SDG policy. New research using the Overton data explored whether research ‘quality’ influences its uptake into policy and found that traditional metrics play only a small role, with factors like media attention having a surprisingly strong impact!
