📢 I'm thrilled to share that I've obtained a new certification: DCAM Certified Trainer from EDM Council! If there's one thing I can confidently call myself an expert in, it's the DCAM Framework. My journey into the field of Data Management began with moonlighting 10 hours a week to support the EDM Council's product manager during the development of DCAM v2. Back then, while I wondered how all these data practitioners could afford 'Lake Houses,' 🏞️ I could tell you exactly how many Sub-capabilities there are in the DCAM Framework and the intricacies of calculating a DCAM Assessment Score. Since then, I've delved deep into understanding each of those Sub-capabilities (and learned that a data lakehouse isn't as luxurious as it sounds!). I've collaborated with dozens of clients, aiding their adoption of the framework and the design of its capabilities. I've transitioned from being the behind-the-scenes data analyst to leading Assessment Interviews, hosting workshops, and collecting scores from data practitioners worldwide. 🍎 So, what's next on my DCAM journey? I'm excited to introduce DCAM to the next wave of framework adopters. I'm thinking that we could all use some help from Santa's Elves to tidy up our data in the run up to Christmas, but I'm not sure what I should get the elves to do first. Maybe it's to log all of those data issues that we can't be bothered to log? Or maybe they could prioritise the data issue backlog? Or maybe they could get those business terms approved that have never quite got signed off? Or document that business data lineage? What do you think we should get the Elves to do? I am greatly looking forward to this. The IRM UK conferences are such a powerful source of information, insights and a great place to meet brilliant folk from the data community. It is a great honour to be opening the conference. Especially among so many brilliant speakers this year - I know I will learn a lot too. The talk will cover how the data management world is adapting to the new environment for AI, regulation and automation combining cutting edge advice gleaned from years of practical experience + many 100s of hours of research (both through attending talks, reading countless data management and AI whitepapers and interviewing industry specialists).
