At Donaldson Timber Systems, we advocate for the use of timber as the only naturally renewable building material, making it the most sustainable construction option available. Timber is not only more environmentally friendly during construction but also remains beneficial throughout its lifetime. Its excellent thermal insulation properties enhance energy efficiency, reducing energy consumption for heating and cooling. As trees grow, they absorb one tonne of CO2 per cubic metre, effectively sequestering carbon until the timber reaches the end of its life cycle. Building with timber saves, on average, 6 tonnes of carbon compared to masonry solutions and If just half of the UK government's target of 340,000 new homes per year were constructed with timber, we could potentially remove 1 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere annually. https://lnkd.in/ebeNkcCA #SustainableConstruction #TimberFrame #NetZero

Here at Donaldson Timber Systems, we are committed to driving innovation and sustainability in the construction industry, ensuring that our systems not only meet but exceed expectations. The Affordable Homes Programme from Homes England mandates that funded projects achieve at least 25% of units through Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) or a Pre-Manufactured Value (PMV) of 55% or above, and our Sigma® II system meets this requirement without the need for additional off-site technologies. https://lnkd.in/e24GAsVw #TimberFrame #SustainableConstruction #NetZero

We’re proud to be a pioneer of the sustainable timber industry and a key player in the world of sustainable building. When it comes to a sustainable built environment, material choices matter. Wood is a natural, renewable and sustainable material for building, with a lighter carbon footprint than steel or concrete, providing sustainable homes and sustainable building solutions. We’re proud to be leading the industry with the UK’s first EPD in timber frame system (TFS) wall panels, proof that Timber is the most sustainable building material, and we’re already working on improvements to show further benefits when we review the EPD in five years. Through experience and independant thirty party verified EPDs we can help our customers achieve their net zero carbon targets. One day, all homes will be built this way. https://lnkd.in/efaY8gfj #SustainableConstruction #GreenerHomes #EPD

Our Alpha open panel system is the most cost-effective and flexible solution for low-to-medium rise house building. Alpha provides a high-quality, factory-made system that is fully compliant with Building Regulations for England, Scotland, and Wales, and is the first off-site assembled timber frame wall panel in the UK to offer an third-party accredited environmental product declaration (EPD). The Global Warming Potential (GWP) of Alpha is carbon positive, with a typical four bed detached home built using Alpha storing 3000kg of carbon in the timber frame elements of the external walls alone, not including the timber floors and roof trusses. This reliable system has proven its worth on large-volume housing projects, offering flexibility with OSB clad floor cassettes or loose joists, and engineered roof trusses. https://lnkd.in/eYFCp4HG #TimberSystems
