We ran our first Oxford Innovation Sessions live stream yesterday with Microsoft. Thank you to Paul Veck and Michael Gillett for providing not only interesting insight but some tangible benefits for our businesses. There is some very good engagement and top content in this session and links to some free resources. The talks start from 5.30 minutes on the recording. OI Sessions is a series of six exclusive talks, will feature future experts from top companies including Barclays, and Oxford Innovation Finance, covering cutting-edge topics in Artificial Intelligence, Business Development, Marketing, and more. Supporting mental health is just as important as supporting business growth. At Oxford Innovation Space, we understand the pressures that small business owners face—especially in today’s challenging economic climate. With rising energy prices and long working hours, it’s no surprise that 4 in 5 small business owners report experiencing symptoms of poor mental health (according to a study by Mental Health UK and iwoca). That’s why we’ve taken action to support our community in a more holistic way. Our in-house business support team has recently completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training through Oxfordshire Mind, giving us the skills to: - Spot early signs of mental health challenges - Provide initial support and guidance - Help entrepreneurs navigate both business and personal struggles As Neil Griffin, our Business Support Director, says: “By fostering an environment where mental health is openly discussed, we’re helping break down the stigma and empowering business owners to thrive both personally and professionally.” We believe in building resilient, inclusive environments where founders feel supported not only in their business ventures but also in their well-being. We’re finalists! We are thrilled to be shortlisted in multiple categories at the upcoming UKSPA - The United Kingdom Science Park Association 40th Anniversary Awards. Future Space - Bristol, which is located at the University of the West of England, has made the final shortlist in the Most Successful Science Park (small) category. Meanwhile, Vulcan Works in #Northampton, which we manage on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council is a finalist in the Driving an Interactive Community category (small). And the good news doesn’t stop there. Our customer CardMedic, which is based at our Oxford Centre for Innovation, has also been shortlisted for the Most Innovative Company award. The winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinner at the UKSPA 40th Anniversary Conference on the 17th October. In the meantime, congratulations to our teams at Future Space and Vulcan Works as well as everyone at CardMedic. This is a fantastic achievement in itself. From humble beginnings in 2019 to becoming the Official Nutrition Licensee for Team GB, VOW Nutrition's journey is a testament to their commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability. Founded by champion bodybuilder Simon Stevens, and now based at Theobalds Enterprise Centre, the company has grown rapidly, now selling products in 12 countries and available in major retail chains like Holland & Barrett and Boots.
