  • "I felt like Captain Cook stepping ashore on a remote island for the first time. I just didn’t think it still existed in the world." When James Ashwell, owner of Oyster 62 Uhuru of London set sail on the most extreme voyage he had undertaken so far, he had no idea how beautiful it would be. His lifelong ambitions of exploring Melanesia, a place he'd grown up researching in back copies of National Geographic and by watching David Attenborough documentaries were finally coming true. James had long been fascinated by stories of the tribes of Papua New Guinea, the land divers of Vanuatu and life in the Solomon Islands, so set his course for these remote but stunning destinations and began his next chapter. • Welcoming the latest 885 into the family. Congratulations to the team at Saxon Wharf for the incredible launch of Oyster 885 Gypsy Soul last week. The day began with a brisk cold start at 5 AM, as the lift team prepared the bay, pulled her out of the shed and transported her to the basin for her splash in the early sunrise in front of the entire yard team and her proud owners. This launch marks another monumental day in the history of Oyster Yachts, and we wish her fair winds and following seas as she now heads to Ipswich for commissioning, and then begins her global adventure in the new year. Royal Ocean Racing Club Yacht of the Year Congratulations to Ross Applebey and his team on 48 Scarlet Oyster, who last week, were named the RORC Yacht of the Year. After more than two decades of competing in the RORC Season's Points Championship, this is the first time he has claimed the top honour, lifting the Somerset Memorial Trophy in a defining moment. Alongside this, Scarlet Oyster also won IRC Two and finished second in the overall Championship, while lifting the Gordon Applebey Trophy and the Assuage Trophy. An incredible achievement, as the crew are in their 11th season with the boat. Together they have raced thousands of miles, and Ross has been sailing the boat, previously owned by his father, since he was a child, logging around 200,000 miles aboard her. Well done Ross, and congratulations Scarlet Oyster. Prizegiving images from Rich Bowen Photography, and racing image from Rick Tomlinson. #OysterYachts

4 days, 10 hours, 41 minutes and 16 seconds later... In the late hours of yesterday evening, Oyster 595 Carina made landfall in Cape Verde after leaving Las Palmas on the World Cruising Club ARC+ last Sunday, making her the first monohull over the line. Only handed over this year, this stunning 595 has made the most of her time on the water so far, sailing down from the UK through the Bay of Biscay and the Strait of Gibraltar into Palma where she won her first race at the Oyster Palma Regatta. Heading down the Las Palmas for the start of the ARC+, she received on-the-ground technical support from our team before heading off to Cape Verde. A speedy crossing and taking 1st place in all cruisers, while another newly handed over 595, One Distraction, came into Cape Verde today too, taking 4th place in her category. It's a testament to the speed and stability of the Oyster 595, and congratulations to both boats. • On hand Technical Support at the ARC and ARC+. This November, the Oyster Technical Support team, made up of Oyster experts, ex-skippers and experienced sailors, are shore based in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, to offer complimentary support the fleet of Oyster yachts taking part in the ARC and ARC+. Onboard Oyster 72 Clarelsa, today the team dropped the sail to investigate a problem with the in-mast furler that was spotted in the earlier rig check. After further inspection, a fault with the swivel was diagnosed, allowing us to advise on potential solutions, and work with the UK based After Sales team to source spares. The team, alongside The Rigging Point have been delivering complimentary rig and health checks to the fleet, and will continue to support throughout the following week. #OysterYachts
