A South London Christmas Grotto 🎅 1 in 4 children in Croydon grow up in poverty. This Christmas, the cost of living crisis has made it even harder for families to give their children the festive season they deserve. That’s why, for the third year running, we hosted 40 local families at our Selhurst Park Christmas. Families met Santa and his elves, Palace stars, received gifts they wouldn’t otherwise have, and were given a £20 Aldi voucher to help with their Christmas shop. But there’s still so much more to do. A South London Christmas Surprise ❤️💙 Thank you to Crystal Palace Football Club stars Marc Guéhi and Eberechi Eze for putting on a Christmas Cracker of a surprise for our well deserving Down Syndrome football team, AKA the DS Eagles, at the Palace Christmas retail shoot last month! It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. Over the past year, we’ve supported more than 730 participants through our Disability Sport initiatives including Down’s Syndrome, powerchair , vision impairment, and mental health football sessions. This year, we’re celebrating A South London Christmas by supporting local families. One in four children in Croydon grow up in poverty, and many more families have been deeply affected by the cost of living crisis and cannot afford to provide a special Christmas for their children. We have invited 40 local families to Selhurst Park to meet Santa and his elves on the17th December. They will all receive presents they otherwise wouldn’t receive this year, as well as a £20 Aldi voucher to help them towards their big Christmas shop. However, there are more families that need our support. Ten young people from our GAME ON employment programme spent the day in the ITV newsroom learning all about different careers in TV! 🎥 Their visit is part of The Geoff Hill Palace for Life Fellowship with ITV News, an initiative to honour the memory of former ITV News Editor Geoff Hill, who was a lifelong Crystal Palace Football Club supporter.
