Here’s a fresh addition to our industry glossary 😎 A chargeback is an operation to refund funds to the customer's account that were previously debited when paying for a product or service. It is carried out for various reasons: cancellation of a purchase, erroneous transaction, unproven services, or suspicion of fraud. The chargeback is initiated by the seller or the bank, usually after the customer's request. The process depends on the bank, the type of card and the seller's policy. The return time varies, but on average it takes from a few days to two weeks.
