“I always say to colleagues: AI is not going to take your job. What will take your job is someone who knows how to use it better than you do,” said Conall McDevitt, President of Penta Group, in a recent interview with Tracy Chan of Human Resources Online. Research from Penta showed that, compared with senior executives, junior-level employees are less enthusiastic about using AI at work. For instance, senior executives (86%) were far more trusting of AI to assist in their job than associates (49%) were. Also, only 31% of senior executives believed AI would replace workers, while 46% of associates thought it will. For organisations, successful incorporation of AI requires cultural adoption at all levels, and they need to start think and plan the organisational strategy around the integration of AI. The three key dimensions to consider include Human, System, and Compliance. Yesterday, EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) and Penta Group hosted a collaborative event on decoding key American and European policies. Conall McDevitt, President of Penta, and Bryan DeAngelis, Partner and Head of Penta’s Washington DC office, delved into how these trends impact ASEAN markets, while Chris Humphrey, Executive Director of EU-ABC, moderated the discussion. Hailing from diverse industries such as financial services, technology, public policy, attendees posed intriguing questions on the effect of Trump's re-election on China, the influence of AI, and the future of ASEAN relations. There was also an opportunity for everyone to exchange insights on navigating similar challenges, over some wine and cheese. Stay tuned for future events where we continue to unpack the policies shaping ASEAN's business landscape.

Shaping of the Irish General Election: What are the main parties' sentiment and visibility as Ireland heads to the polls? As Ireland heads to the polls, Fine Gael faces significant challenges, with recent polls indicating a decline in support. An Irish Times/Ipsos poll shows Fine Gael dropping a whopping six points to 19%, trailing Fianna Fáil at 21% and Sinn Féin at 20%. Our Penta data shows a corresponding dip in sentiment in recent days. This downturn is attributed to campaign missteps, including Taoiseach Simon Harris's contentious interaction with a care worker in Cork, which has drawn widespread criticism, as well as questions over the selection of John McGahon in Co. Louth as a video of a violent incident involving him resurfaced in recent days. This has particularly affected the party's sentiment as it has largely run a 'presidential-style' campaign centred around its leader Harris. Despite Fine Gael's decline, Sinn Féin, the largest opposition party, has not seen its support surge correspondingly. However, party leader Mary Lou McDonald asserts that momentum is building, with recent controversies the party faced receding in public memory amid rapid news cycles. As the election nears, the political landscape remains fluid, with voter sentiment subject to swift changes. The final outcome will hinge on each party's ability to effectively address pressing issues and resonate with the electorate 🗳️ What targeted strategies can each party implement in the final hours of the campaign to capitalise on voter sentiment and mitigate the impact of recent controversies? #ElectionTrends #IrishPolitics #IrelandElection2024
