Planet Smart City was honoured to participate in #COP29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference held this year in #Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024. COP29, themed "Investing in a Liveable Planet for All" and known as the "finance COP" for the agreement on a #NewCollectiveQuantifiedGoal – NCQG, emphasized the critical role of #renewableenergy in combating climate change and promoting sustainable development. Our COO and Deputy CEO, Daniele Russolillo, presented the #D2FX project in #SmartCityLaguna and #SmartCityAquiraz, Brazil, showcasing how integrating #digitalenergysolutions can enhance #communitysustainability and pave the way for a #digitaltransition in the energy sector. Earlier last month, over 30 #ULIItaly Young Leaders from companies such as Hines, BNP Paribas, and Lendlease visited #SeiMilano, a smart district developed by Borio Mangiarotti S.p.A. Nicholas Gerritsen, Project Innovation Designer at Planet Smart City and a #ULIYoungLeader led the tour, providing an overview of Planet’s #smartspaces and solutions. “The visit highlighted how we have seamlessly integrated high standards of #sustainablebuilding practices with #communitydevelopment initiatives aimed at #empowering residents,” explained Gerritsen. SeiMilano features #ClassA buildings with low CO2 emissions, advanced #digitalconnectivity, and #smarthome systems that simplify daily living while promoting sustainability. Residents also benefit from the #PlanetApp, offering event booking, space reservation, and utility monitoring services. The visit showcased how Planet combines #smarttechnology and sustainability to create future-ready neighbourhoods with lasting value.

Planet Smart City’s horizontal projects in Brazil are driving growth in the housing market of the #Ceará region. #SmartCityLaguna, located near #Fortaleza, spans 330 hectares and will provide over 6,000 housing plots for a #futurecommunity of 20,000 residents. With 600 homes delivered, the project is now 80% complete, integrating 58 #smartsolutions like co-working spaces and air quality monitoring through the #PlanetApp. 🏡 Our #Aquiraz and #PraiaBela development, just 30 minutes from Fortaleza, covers 240 hectares and will deliver 2,800 homes and 4,000 plots, housing more than 24,000 people. Over 700 homes are completed, benefiting around 2,000 residents with 51 smart solutions. 🌴 #SmartCityNatal spans 170 hectares and will deliver 400 homes and 2,000 plots for 8,000 residents. The Primo Forum Nazionale sull'Industria dei Servizi Immobiliari, held in Milan on November 13, 2024, and facilitated by Scenari Immobiliari, showcased the growing convergence of #propertymanagement, #digitalinnovation, and #sustainability. The event highlighted 2023's milestones, with Italy's property management sector generating over €135 million in revenues and project management nearly €50 million. At #PlanetSmartCity, we're thrilled to have recently welcomed two talented students from the University of Nairobi to our headquarters in Turin, reinforcing our commitment to advancing #AffordableHousing solutions globally. During their visit to our #CompetenceCenter, the students gained hands-on insights into our #UrbanDevelopment projects and methodologies. They also connected with experts at Politecnico di Torino before heading to the #RedoMerezzate district in Milan to witness our #sustainable model. This visit marks a significant step in our partnership with the University of Nairobi, aligning our expertise with #Kenya's urgent need for affordable housing solutions. With a significant #housingdeficit (around 2.5 million units), Kenya is creating innovative national policies to address this critical issue—and we're excited to support this mission through collaboration and knowledge sharing. #PlanetSmartCity's Smart Mix debuted at the Journées Nationales de l'#Architecture in #Paris, held in the iconic Espaces d'Abraxas district of Noisy-Le-Grand.   In partnership with Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura (RBTA) and the Ville de Noisy-le-Grand community, Planet Smart City organised the Smart Mix workshop, a digital #game focusing on #smartcities, dedicated to the children.  The aim of the activity, in which 11 children aged between 8 and 10 took part, was to illustrate the process of designing a smart city, explore innovative solutions to be adopted, and encourage children to think about the four pillars that drive all of Planet Smart City’s activities: care for the #environment, cutting-edge #technology, inclusive #communities, and  #planning and #architecture. Through interactive discussions, the workshop fostered curiosity and understanding of how sustainable solutions can improve community life.      Building on this successful experience, Planet Smart City is open to exploring opportunities to replicate the Smart Mix workshop in other districts, disseminating Planet's vision of the cities of the future. 

In our districts, integrating #greenspaces goes beyond aesthetics, which is vital in promoting environmental #sustainability and #community well-being. Green areas improve air quality, reduce urban heat islands, and manage rainwater, but they also enhance residents’ mental and physical well-being, fostering a stronger sense of community.  Our approach balances hardware products, digital services, and innovative practices like smart urban gardens, CO2 monitoring, and using renewable #energy to reduce energy consumption. In #India, our #PlanetSIM platform has optimised water monitoring, managing 3.7 billion litres of water, earning recognition in the proptech sector.  We focus on nature-based solutions, incorporating low-water-use plants, urban farming, and pre-greening during construction to ensure greenery is integrated and makes neighbourhoods more liveable. Photocatalytic materials and monitoring systems further improve air quality and resource management.  In #Brazil, photovoltaic panels on the Innovation Hub in #SmartCityAquiraz and homes in #SmartCityLaguna have generated 70 MWh of energy, reducing CO2 emissions by 21 tonnes over six months. These green solutions and landscape designs by renowned architects are creating healthier, more sustainable communities in our #smartcities. 

The #Universe community in #Pune, #India is rapidly growing, with 679 out of 1,775 residential units already completed. The development has been well-received, marking a significant success for the partnership between #PlanetSmartCity and Kolte-Patil Developers Limited.  Of the 160 planned commercial spaces, some are already up and running, including mini markets, boutiques, and restaurants. Several other commercial units are in the final stages of preparation, enhancing the community’s vibrancy and bringing valuable amenities closer to residents.  With more commercial units nearing completion, the blossoming of new businesses will bring essential services and conveniences directly to residents, supporting the community’s growth and enhancing quality of life for all 5,400 residents expected by the project’s completion.  Planet Smart City's vision is to create an environment that seamlessly connects all who live and work in its #smartcities, fostering a strong, thriving #community for both residents and local businesses. 

#PlanetSmartCity co-organized a productive event with drOp_HorizonEU at #Urbana New Living in #Milan earlier this week, with the support of REDO SGR S.p.A. - Società Benefit and Fondazione Housing Sociale. The event brought together experts from different sectors to discuss forward-looking approaches to #energy efficiency and urban development.  The four core themes included engaging the ageing population in energy initiatives, analysing public space for walkability, using digital tools to evaluate success, and innovative financing models for energy efficiency upgrades in residential buildings.  Planet Smart City's Giulia Stefanelli, Community Development Manager, Adriano Bergese, Product Manager, and Stefano Fava, Deputy Head of Grant all contributed to the panels. Their participation, along with that of other international experts, highlighted Planet's role in shaping the future of smart districts and cities.  The event perfectly fits Planet Smart City's vision of creating smarter, greener, more inclusive urban environments.
