PML. had the pleasure of hosting a site tour of St Johns College, 1-11 Portugal Street Construction Management project for the CFCI members last week. The project being delivered under the Construction Management method of procurement is a challenge for the whole team with peat layers found in the trial holes requiring a movement joint between the new and existing buildings. Working alongside MCW Architects, Smith and Wallwork, Greengauge Building Energy Consultants, ROBERT MYERS ASSOCIATES LTD, Affinity Fire Engineering, Turley, RHBC the full refurbishment including Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar, Waste water heat recovery and extensive thermal / air tight works will be complete in the summer of 2025. A team from PML. ran the Chariots of Fire relay race in Cambridge last Sunday morning, to raise charitable donations for Magpas Air Ambulance. Well done to everyone that braved the down pour! The route started and finished on the Queens Green and follows a 1.7-mile route through Cambridge City Centre and Cambridge University’s Colleges. Each person completes one lap before handing over the baton to their next runner.

PML took part in the 2024 Work Experience Programme with The Employability Partnership. We had the pleasure of working with a student called Cai for two weeks from Sawston Village College, showing him what it’s like working within the Construction Industry. Cai assisted with health & safety walkarounds, onsite surveying, window surveys and reviewed project drawings. He also participated in hands-on tasks such as plastering, hand digging for drainage, and painting. Cai also contributed to organising a football tournament for the team onsite in celebration of the Euros. It was an absolute pleasure having Cai onboard and we look forward to assisting The Employment Partnership and Sawston Village College again in the future.
