"25 years ago today, the doors of Plato opened. But our story truly began on New Year’s Day 1999 with a simple £2 bet. Around the table, the question was: "who could turn a £2 coin into the most profit by Millennium Day?" Would you bet your life on it? Lynn Kennedy and I did. By October 1999, that little bet led us to buy a small tool hire company in Stratford Upon Avon with only 100 plates, no wash-up facility, and absolutely zero technology. We rebranded, ditched the chainsaws, drills, strimmer's and anything else dangerous and just kept the plates and a few glasses. Thus, Plato Catering Hire was born, marking the beginning of our #bootstrapping journey. What started as a small venture quickly grew beyond anything we imagined. Plate hire, glass hire, linen hire, and furniture hire weren’t even on our radar back then. Today, they define us. 25 years later, Plato Hire has transformed from humble beginnings into a multi-award-winning Hire Association Europe (HAE) and Event Hire Association (EHA) Safehire© certified catering equipment hire company.
