🌟Calling all Plymouth employers 🌟 Our Future Fit team has been busy delivering retrofit drop-ins at various businesses around Plymouth, including Derriford Hospital, Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Community Homes, National Marine Aquarium. We’ve connected with over 200 people, offering free, tailored retrofit advice and booking free retrofit home visits to help local residents improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Are you an employer in Plymouth looking at ways to achieve your sustainability goals and reduce carbon emissions? We can help you to support your employees to improve their home’s energy efficiency! We provide a pop up stand offering in-person advice for employees and clients on energy efficiency or any energy-related issues, such as damp and mould. Well, retrofit simply means adding solutions to make your home more energy efficient, reduce energy consumption and/or heat loss. At first, Sofia was unsure about installing solar panels. Fitting them required additional roof space, which meant removing a large chimney. Sofia valued the aesthetic of her old chimney and was reluctant to give up her open fire. However, when repairs to her large chimney became necessary, Sofia realised that removing it and replacing the open fire with an efficient wood-burning stove would actually be more cost-effective than repairing it. Sofia’s house, like many older properties in Plymouth, presented significant challenges. With its solid, thick walls and lack of insulation, the home struggled to retain heat, leaving rooms cold and damp. These issues not only made the house uncomfortable but also had an impact on Sofia’s day-to-day life.
