About us

Pocket Sergeant is an application which assists police officers and staff deal with the day to day pressures of front line policing. Pocket Sergeant is also of interest to PCSOs, Store Detectives, Solicitors and any member of the public who have an interest in criminal law in England and Wales. Pocket Sergeant, which is available for download from Google Play and Apple stores, is an important tool for serving police officers that helps make their job easier. The decrease in the number of full-time police officers / staff and the increase of Special Constables / volunteers has led to the call for more support and new technology to help officers on the front line. Pocket Sergeant answers the call of modern day policing by helping to provide better time management for police officers and support staff. The app breeds efficiency amongst officers and the forces they serve. Some of the features provided by Pocket Sergeant include offence definitions, points to prove, whether there is sufficient evidence to charge a suspect (offence specific). It also advises whether a crime report should be submitted and offence codes. There is a checklist section, which allows users to check each point covered in statements, contacts section so users can add their work-related contacts, a calendar and a recent feature, Reference Library. The library holds important documents such as the PACE Codes of Practice that can be referred to at any time.

  • We are now adding the PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence) Codes to the main A-Z list of Pocket Sergeant! This will bring significant value to our users. By breaking down each code into easily digestible sections and making them searchable within the main A-Z list, users will be able to quickly find the information they need, right when they need it. This feature will provide quick access to essential guidelines, helping officers and legal professionals save time and increase their understanding of procedures on the go. Additionally, we’re excited to be in discussions with third parties about adding new features and functionality based on user requests. Through our app incubator, we’re gathering direct feedback and ideas from our community to ensure Pocket Sergeant continues to evolve and address the real challenges faced by officers. These partnerships will allow us to deliver tools that are not only relevant but also tailored to our users’ needs, making Pocket Sergeant even more effective as a practical, reliable resource.

When I started Pocket Sergeant, I had almost zero experience in app development—or building a business. I was a police officer, working shifts, serving the community. Now, Pocket Sergeant supports tens of thousands of people, and I’ve developed Misper, an app to help find missing people. I’m also building an app I hope will revolutionise the entertainment industry, and I’ll soon be a published author, with my book set to release in March 2025. Recently, I’ve taken on a new side of the business, offering app development and custom-built websites for others. There’s a common narrative that to succeed in business, you need to be an expert from day one. This is NOT TRUE! I wasn’t an expert. I just wanted to create something better. And in many ways, my lack of expertise meant I was a little naive. But naivety is a superpower, not a weakness. Being naive in business means you take risks, push boundaries, and seize opportunities without letting fear hold you back. The best businesses aren’t built by people with perfect plans. They’re built by people who try, learn, and adapt. I’ve failed countless times along the way—whether with features, marketing, or strategy. But each setback has helped shape Pocket Sergeant and Misper into what they are today. So, don’t aim for “perfect” or even “knowledgeable.” Just aim for: 1. Doing something you believe in ❤️ 2. Accepting it’s going to be challenging 🌊 3. Paving your own path 🚀 I’m 💻 Paul Cooper 📱, founder of Pocket Sergeant. I’m here to share my journey of resilience, failure, and redefining success. If that resonates with you, give me a follow 🫵

In return for their ideas, they’ll be rewarded for contributing to the future of Pocket Sergeant. This feature is designed to empower our community, allowing them to shape the tools they use every day on the front line. Get ready to be a part of something innovative - because, with the App Incubator, great ideas are ready to hatch!

  • This disciplinary hearing took a farcical turn when the panel concluded that someone could lie based on what they believed they could smell. We raised this issue at the time and maintain our position - it’s entirely possible for one person to detect the scent of cannabis while another does not. While justice has been served with the officers being reinstated and receiving back pay, the immense stress endured by the officers and their families is unimaginable. This case highlights that disciplinary panels and investigations are fundamentally flawed and unfit for purpose. https://lnkd.in/egqncXSe

Some of you will have started receiving emails about a subscription price increase. We understand users may have concerns, especially after around a decade at the same rate of £0.99 per month. We have increased the monthly subscription to £1.99 per month and is not a decision taken lightly. We do our utmost to keep our pricing below what it would cost for a decent cup of coffee. This adjustment is necessary to cover rising costs and support the launch of yet more, exciting new features, including our App Incubator. The App Incubator will launch in September 2024 and will allow subscribers to put forward ideas on new apps / tech we can build for them. Those whose ideas we use, will be rewarded. We will announce more details soon. We appreciate your continued support and hope you enjoy the new features and functionality that are on their way.
