I'll be completely honest, I didn't really prepare for this chat with Cat Kevern and Eloise Newing from Electric Cat Productions. It had been a bit of a week and, thankfully, I knew there wasn't going to be that much pressure on this conversation. The result, as it turned out, was an incredibly raw and open conversation about my journey into the events industry and, as is often the case, a discussion which centred around mental health and how event organisations need to be better in this space. We chatted about how coming out led me to Project 30, the unbelievably positive impact of counselling in that process and how the events industry needs to focus more on the mental health of the people that work in it. It was lovely to reflect on my journey with Bournemouth 7s Festival and how we found our way through Covid as well as the start of the P30 story. Huge thanks to Eloise and Cat for creating such a supportive and welcoming environment and to the Electric Cat team for their work behind the scenes in editing and promoting the episode, it was a joy to be a part of their story 🫶

The best thing about working in events is the people 🫶 If Day 1 at the Event Production Show reminded me of anything, it was that our industry is made special by the people who operate within it. It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with some great friends, colleagues and contacts from across the sector. Whilst these events are designed to make new relationships, re-visiting the old ones is an absolute highlight. The events industry can be tough and unforgiving but that is always pushed to one side when you get share stories and experiences with people in the same boat. This was also the first trade show that Project 30 have attended as a trio and it was genuinely lovely to hear so many people offering Paul, Matthew and I such kind and supportive backing. This new chapter for the business is incredibly exciting and this feels like another cool step in many more to come. That was all in Day 1, let's see what today has to offer...

  • Simon and the rest of the Seventa Events team smashed it in Cambridge over the recent festive period, well done to them all 👏 At Project 30, we were really pleased to work with them providing site management, project management and safety compliance services, in such a well received event in the heart of Cambridge 🙌 was great to be in a field in the winter as well!!

Founder of Seventa Events, a creative Event Agency that has successfully grown into a group of exciting event & hospitality companies.

We set about with a vision. We sketched it out a thousand times. We built a team around us that we could trust to deliver. We put our b*lls on the line and spent multiple six figure sums bringing it to life. We opened the doors nervously. Cambridge loved it. Cambridge surrounding areas loved it. London loved it. We produced our first Christmas In Cambridge, and over 52,000 Ice Skaters, and 500,000 guests came through the gates. This year, we expand, improve, and carry on creating a Christmas event that Cambridge can be proud of enjoying!

Number one rule of EPN? (Event Production Network) "What happens at EPN, stays at EPN..." Humour aside: What an inspiring and open-minded bunch of #EventProfs! Listening to "competitors" engaging in best practice and sharing advice has blown me away and given me motivation to continue bringing Event Production Agencies together to collaborate further! Thank you to those who attended the intimate roundtable yesterday at Association of Independent Festivals Congress. I will honour to support you where I can and action our discussions promptly, which in turn, shall make a positive impact on many events. We welcome registered companies (owners and PAYE staff) "who sit in the middle" to join this network. (I thank all those who have tried to join the LinkedIn Group thus far, and apologise to those who have been denied. This is a very niche group of companies operating in live events, and is not suited to the "traditional" supply chain or event owners. • We are absolutely delighted to be working with We Organise Chaos again this year at the incredible We Out Here Festival in Dorset 💚 Clare Goodchild and Tom Wilkinson have been such incredible backers of P30 since we launched and it’s a pleasure to be working for them again in delivering Event Operations at this truly one of a kind show. Thank you for having us back, we can’t wait to see you in the fields! #wemakeevents #eventprofs #collaboration

Around this time last week, I received a lovely surprise email from Steve at Access All Areas Magazine letting me know that I had been selected in the inaugural list of 100 leaders from the events industry 🙌🙏 This was incredibly humbling, particularly given the esteemed list of people who are also on the list. I hope sincerely that as Project 30 continues to evolve, our influence on the sector will continue to grow. The magic of the events industry means that some of our very best people remain entirely hidden from the public and the recognition that their skills truly deserve. It's a privilege to sit alongside some great friends on this list but it's also a chance to acknowledge some wonderful people who do their thing, every day, without the plaudits. That is just one of the many reasons that I love the #eventsindustry so much! https://lnkd.in/eA6yGU9i #AAA100 #live #eventprofs #PoweredbyInGo #InfluentialIndex

🎪 Reliable and accurate UK Festival Data, we need your help 🙌 Last year, THE EVENTS INDUSTRY FORUM LTD board were proud to fund a project to finally understand exactly how many Festivals there are in the UK. When advocating on behalf of the sector, organisations and industry leaders had struggled to quantify exactly how many festivals were taking place across the country despite being acutely aware of their cultural significance. Accordingly, Steve Heap commissioned Chris Carey at Fast Forward Events to carry out a project which worked to confirm the scale of what we deliver. The results, at the link below, are the result of a huge amount of time, energy and hard work. However, there are still gaps so please take some time to check your favourite festival is included in the research. The project is a living thing and we hope that by sharing the findings, we will finally start to be able to paint a proper picture of our value to the UK. *Festival Locations* https://lnkd.in/eCjTdCzC
