🎉 Successful Test of EDF Mark 1! 🎉 We are excited to announce a significant milestone in our journey at Project Jet 7. On May 17th, at precisely 3:15 PM, we conducted a successful test of our first-generation Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) - EDF Mark 1. This test delivered an impressive thrust of 272.8944952 grams-force (gf) from a 120mm EDF duct. While this result is a major achievement, we had initially expected and calculated a thrust of 316.245638 grams-force (gf). The discrepancy highlighted an important area for improvement, as the motor arrangement experienced overheating, causing some parts to melt. This feedback is invaluable as it guides us in refining our design to address the heat dissipation issue. Our dedicated team is already hard at work on EDF Mark 2, which will incorporate solutions to the heat problem. We are confident that this next iteration will bring us closer to our goal of integrating the EDF into our cutting-edge EDF Suit design. We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our professors and academic supervisors who guided and supported us throughout this project: Simon Hayes, Daniel Horner, Peter Mylon, Laura Mason, and Giuliano Punzo. Your expertise and encouragement have been instrumental in helping us achieve this feat. Additionally, we want to thank all our team members for their hard work and dedication. Your commitment and relentless pursuit of excellence have been crucial to reaching this milestone. We are proud of the progress made and excited about the innovations yet to come. Here’s a sneak peek at our EDF Suit design. Check out our Instagram https://lnkd.in/d7G5U-i3 for more cool Videos of the test. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible! #ProjectJet7 #EDFMark1 #Innovation #Aerospace #Engineering #Technology #EDFSuit #Milestone #747 #UniversityofSheffield
