Last week we welcomed 50 men to the first ‘You Alright Mate’ wellbeing event. In recognition of International Men’s Day and a personal mission of both Sam Thomas and Bud Johnston to raise awareness of mens mental health and reduce the unacceptable suicide rate (13 a day) the event featured a panel with representation from men’s groups - Dad La Soul, Way of the Viking, Men of Melanin and In your corner. Bud Johnston: "Bringing men from across the Sussex community together to have some honest conversations was a great achievement. I’m hopeful that from this we can build a community of men work on their mental fitness and help other around them. Together we can make impact."

We’re so excited to be sponsoring the very first Speakers Collective Summit right here at Projects The Lanes! 🫰 The event has been designed to be accessible as possible and as such has no entry fee. The day aims to provide an introduction to the Speakers Collective, bringing together individuals with powerful stories who are breaking down stigma and raising awareness around mental health and social issues. With a fantastic lineup of talks, workshops and discussions, there's no doubt you'll leave the day with many a pearl of wisdom. It's not all or nothing either, and our members and attendees are free to pop in and out of the sessions that will be most relevant to your particular interests. So be sure to grab your free tickets now 🎟️ #SpeakersCollective #MentalHealthAwareness #ProjectsBrighton
🚀 Join us for an afternoon of learning, discovery, and connection in Brighton! 🚀 The first time I stood on stage and shared my story (one of hope, not tragedy) was at the Baton of Hope UK Brighton event we organised at Brighton Dome last year. That night, I had the privilege of meeting fellow speakers, the inspiring Jonny Benjamin MBE ☮️, alongside the heroic Neil Laybourn. 💪 Jonny is a founding member of the Speakers Collective, a not-for-profit organisation providing speakers with lived experiences to help tackle stigma and raise awareness on mental health and various social issues. Right up my street, hey? After Jonny's invite I joined soon after. Sharing my story and, more importantly, being ready to share it, was one of the biggest growth spurts of my life—and I’ve lived a lot! 😄 I know so many people in Brighton & Hove who would benefit from the knowledge, community, and support this group offers. I know I certainly have. 💡 That’s why I’m thrilled that the next Speakers Collective Summit will be held in Brighton! 🌊 And thanks to the fantastic support from Projects and their incredible team (shoutout to Alex, Emily, Alana, and Ethan 🙌), this event is open not only to our members but also to a limited number of Projects members and my network—you amazing folks! 🤩 We’ll gather in Projects The Lanes (Nile St), and anyone attending can enjoy a free day in this incredible space. Feel free to come and go throughout the afternoon, popping in for sessions that suit your schedule. 📅 I’ll drop the Eventbrite link in the comments, but feel free to message me to learn more! Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and welcoming new ones. #SpeakersCollective #BrightonEvent #MentalHealthAwareness #LivedExperience #ConnectionAndGrowth #ProjectsBrighton #CommunitySupport #BrightonAndHove #FreeEvent

You Alright Mate?........ It's November and it's Mens Health Awareness Month...... This International Men's Day, we’re bringing together men from all walks of life to open up and connect on topics that too often goes unspoken: mental health, wellbeing, and suicide prevention. Join Sam Thomas and I on November 19th at Projects in Brighton for an impactful gathering aimed at breaking down barriers and building understanding around men's mental health. 💬 🎯 Why "You Alright Mate?"
