Private philanthropy can power the global response to the growing mental health crisis. We are already seeing philanthropy playing a unique role as an agile catalyst to action on mental health, but more transparency is needed. Today we launched the ‘Power of Giving’ report at The REAL Summit conference, celebrating the top philanthropic funders financing global mental health in 2023. Combining publicly disclosed information and detailed follow-up, the Power of Giving report celebrates the private companies, foundations and individuals investing in action on mental health around the world. Here are the top contributors listed in the report and the amount they’ve donated: ➡️ Movember ($17.3M) ➡️ Fondation Botnar ($11.6M) ➡️ Z Zurich Foundation ($11.5M) ➡️ lululemon ($11.3M) ➡️ Pinterest ($10.9M) ➡️ Grand Challenges Canada ($7.1M) ➡️ Cotton On Foundation ($6.8M) ➡️ kate spade new york ($4.2M) ➡️ EMpower—The Emerging Markets Foundation ($3.2M) More private and public investment is needed to help prevent mental health problems and make sure everyone has access to the support they need, particularly in lower income countries. We encourage more to join those already providing effective funding and more transparency around the amount of private funding for action on mental health, along with the detail and impact of this investment. Download and share the first ever Power of Giving report here > https://lnkd.in/eQ29Cs56 If you are a funder or know an organisation who should be included in the 2025 global survey, please register the work on the link above.

Founder & CEO, Prospira Global Global Mental Health Financing & Impact | ESG & Mental Health | Convener Model Expert | World Economic Forum Young Global Leader | Speaker
I'm honoured to be invited to attend the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, 2025. If you're also attending and are interested to drive greater action for mental health in your company, wider communities and the world in 2025 - please do reach out. I'll be participating in a number of conversations and private meetings to accelerate action on mental health, within some of the key themes of this year's meeting: Investing in people, Rebuilding Trust, Reimagining Growth and Safeguarding the Planet. Some of the key areas I'll be focusing on, and bringing to these global discussions include: 1. Accelerating global financing - philanthropy; from advocacy to action - celebrating some of the newest global funders prioritizing mental health, working closely with our clients and colleagues working on this already, supporting some new major funders entering the space and keeping my diary open for any funders who haven't yet taken action on mental health, but have questions about what really works when it comes to investing in mental health. If you are a global funder (#philanthropist, #investor, #company) and are taking action on mental health, or would like to learn more, please do reach out. Our team at Prospira Global will be keeping track of all the mental health events and sharing with anyone interested. 2. Accelerating financing - impact investment; supporting a number of new funds launching / launched around the world poised for big impact in the years ahead. *** Watch this space *** 3. The impact of products - a number of discussions around different industries, including social media - and where the responsibility for action lies, and what is needed next. 4. People - what is really working when it comes to mental health, including insights from our company wide mental health diagnostics. Moving beyond tick-boxes to measured, responsible action. 5. How mental health is a priority across all United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including practical examples and lessons; from #education, #genderequality, #climateaction, #peace justice and strong institutions and more. If you'd like to learn more, find out more here: wef.ch/wef25 Looking forward to seeing the #yglcommunity there, and as always will be prioritising action coming out of these important annual meetings. #WEF25 James Forsyth Mahmoud Jabari Dr Ruma Bhargava Shawn Lesser Joshua Haynes Sabine Flechet Professor Miranda Wolpert Paul Spencer Tom Hall Heather Kelly Emily P. Did you know private funding is almost 50% of total global funding for mental health? As our new report, 'The Power of Giving' demonstrates, private philanthropic funding is playing a powerful role in supporting global mental health needs, often stepping in where governments have not, backing innovation and acting as risk capital for catalytic action. Yet, the scale of funding for mental health remains small, with spending on mental health representing less than 1% of all private philanthropic development assistance for health in 2023. This leaves a sizable opportunity for philanthropic donors to increase their commitment to global mental health, alongside public funding. If you'd like to learn more about this, read our report here: https://lnkd.in/egsvNPVt. Or, if you're a funder wanting to do more on this space, feel free to reach out to our team and we'd love to support you on your journey. #mentalhealth #philanthropy #funding
