This is a fantastic partnership with a cool bit of tech that I'm really excited about. We've started to partner with the clever team over at H010 and their amazing secure holographic QR codes. For ages we've felt there is a gap in how we connect physical objects to their digital twins. NFC chips are cool and secure, but they can be expensive and tricky to apply as part of a manufacturing process. Printable QR Codes are quick and easy to do at scale, and you can create unique codes with a degree of fraud detection, but are inherently less secure. H010's (pronounced 'holo') are a ground breaking dual QR code hologram that is that perfect combined solution: * More affordable than an NFC * Secure and difficult to clone * Engaging for the customer That last point is important - we all know scan rates on QR codes are low, and one of the challenges of NFC is teaching the customers. Again - these are a great solution, they capture the eye - encouraging a customer to scan - and there is no NFC issue of a customer not knowing what to do If you've got a use case that can benefit from this amazing joined up technology - let myself or George Hall know!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting the #QR partner advisory group at the GS1 UK offices. I’m super passionate about this group of stakeholders, because whilst GS1 have set out the vision for the next generation of barcodes, it’s the solution providers who are the ones who are out there working with our members (and of course our standards) to bring it to life through implementation. They really are an extension of our team, so it’s great to bring them together to celebrate the work the they’ve been doing, exchange insights and gather their feedback on what more we can be doing to support the transition to QR codes powered by GS1. Thanks to everyone who attended: Domino Printing Sciences OAL Buyerdock Fabacus 1WorldSync Rotech Machines Ltd Zappar re-universe Trimco Group SATO Europe Polytag Limited SharpEnd / io.tt TrackCarbon Prove Anything Orca Scan Tongadive Xact Control Axicon Group Atomic Pixels Our partner community is growing all the time, so if you’d like to come and join us then please do get in touch with Tamsin Stafford. #RetailTransformation #GS1Standards #Partnerships

The future of retail - Smartlinks - Prove Anything and GS1 The retail industry has begun a global evolution from classic barcodes to two-dimensional (2D) QR and GS1 DataMatrix, adding new dimensions and benefits for consumers and businesses alike.  On 26 June 1974, history was made when the world’s first ever linear barcode – located on a multipack of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit chewing gum – was scanned at a supermarket in Troy, Ohio, USA. What started as a way to help a group of supermarkets check prices at the point of sale (POS) has since become the common standard for powering commerce around the world. While a lot has changed since 1974, linear barcodes are still scanned more than 10 billion times every day and play a vital role across e-commerce channels, from direct-to-consumer (D2C) and business-to-business (B2C) to online marketplaces.
