  • Exciting News: WoodVALOR Project Secures CBE JU Funding! 🎉 PuriFire is thrilled to announce that our groundbreaking project, WoodVALOR, has been selected for funding by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). This funding will enable us to embark on a transformative journey, revolutionising how we approach waste wood valorisation and paving the way for a more sustainable future. WoodVALOR exemplifies the principles of a circular economy. By converting contaminated wood into high-performance paints, coatings, and biochar, we will divert waste from landfills and create products that aid environmental restoration. The project's advanced decontamination and fractionation processes will guarantee that every part of the wood is utilised, maximising resource efficiency.  The project's innovative approach will leverage cutting-edge technologies to produce acrylic acid, fatty acids, and bio-based binders from the wood's cellulose and hemicellulose fractions. By grafting these components onto the hemicellulose, we will enhance the coatings' water resistance and durability, creating a closed-loop system where contaminated wood is transformed into protective materials for other wood products.  We are proud to collaborate with 10 other partners from 6 countries to bring WoodVALOR to life. What will set WoodVALOR apart is its comprehensive circularity. Even the process residues will be put to good use, with biochar being applied for bioremediation of contaminated soils and mineral recovery. This holistic approach will minimise waste and promote the recovery of valuable resources, supporting ecological health and material efficiency.  PuriFire, as part of the consortium, will produce phenolic monomers from decontaminated wood lignin using hydrothermal liquefaction and bio-char from hydrothermal carbonisation. The phenolic-based biomaterial compounds will be used to form bio-acrylates, an ingredient in water-based emulsion polymers (latex), for wall paints for the decorative coatings industry. Biochar will be used for enhanced carbon sequestration as nutrient enrichment and to reduce carbon emission in boreal legume grassland plant growth trials. Stay tuned for more updates on WoodVALOR as we embark on this groundbreaking journey, demonstrating the power of human ingenuity in solving the world's most pressing environmental problems.    #WoodVALOR #CircularEconomy #SustainableInnovation #ContaminatedWood #CBE_JU #HydrothermalLiquefaction #HydrothermalCarbonisation PuriFire Energy C-Source Renewables Limited Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus Hempel A/S Sika Celignis Biomass Lab Pili KU Leuven Karlstad University NNFCC The Bioeconomy Consultants Impact Solutions

  • 🏆 It’s official – we’ve been shortlisted for the Clean Superpower: Net Zero Award at @SETsquared Partnership’s Community Awards 2024! Since 2019, PuriFire has been developing wet waste feedstocks into renewable biofuels. Challenges of scaling this technology are to undercut energy intensivity of incumbent processes such as fuel production from renewable electricity and electrolysed hydrogen. PuriFire’s approach is to recycle heat and pressure ensuring a favourable mass energy balance and beneficial return on investment, both in terms of energy footprint and financial return on investment. We’ve now reached crucial milestones to scale this technology, developing our first pilot plant near Swindon launching in 2025. This facility will demonstrate the power and impact of our process to revolutionise methanol production. Now, we need your help! Simply cast your vote for us via the link below and share amongst your network too. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQwmzSjh 🗳️ Voting closes Wednesday 9 November

  • We are excited to announce PuriFire’s £2.7 (US$3.5) million seed round led by HICO Investment Group, with participation from R&R Investments, Bulnes Capital, and Desai Ventures The investment will enable PuriFire to advance its transformative technology for sustainable fuel production. PuriFire's innovative approach streamlines the production of green hydrogen and biogenic carbon dioxide, generated in situ from wastewater and wet carbon feedstocks for the conversion of green methanol and other sustainable fuels. We want to express our sincere appreciation to @Chris Hartnoll for believing in our vision and technology, and we are pleased to welcome him to our Board. PuriFire is also grateful for the support of various mentors, advisors and investors who have been instrumental in our journey so far, including Kevin Clarke, Erol iren, Robert Wright, Stuart R Broadley HonFEI, Helen Tveitan de Jong, Jake Wombwell-Povey, Michael Langguth, Stuart Allinson, Ananda Subbiah, Kamal Hassan, Michael Kosic, Mark Anderson, Edward Pollock, Carbon13.
