Recruitment Consultant at Quest Personnel | Headhunting the best Transport Planner's | Transport Consultants 🚲 🚊| 07407397349

To all my Grad Transport Planner connections 🚗🏙️ Starting your first job as a Graduate Transport Planner is an exciting step, but it can also feel like a big jump. As a recruiter who’s worked with a lot of new grads, here’s some advice to help you get settled and start strong: 1. Your Technical Skills Are Important, But So Are Your People Skills 🛠️💬 Your knowledge of traffic modelling, junction design, and planning rules matters, but don’t forget that being able to explain your ideas clearly to clients, colleagues, and other teams is just as important. Strong communication will set you apart. 2. Be Eager to Learn and Take Initiative 📚 You’re not expected to know everything, especially at the start. What matters is showing that you’re keen to learn. Ask questions, seek feedback, and grab opportunities to get involved in new tasks. A positive attitude early on goes a long way in building your reputation. 3. Teamwork is Crucial 🤝 Transport planning isn’t a solo job. you’ll be working closely with developers, architects, local councils, and other consultants. Being able to work well with all these different people and handle different views is key to getting projects done successfully. 4. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Mentorship 🧑🏫 Experienced transport planners have a wealth of knowledge, and many are happy to share it. Asking for advice or mentorship from your colleagues will help you learn quicker and understand the ins and outs. 5. Be Patient With Yourself ⏳ It’s normal to feel overwhelmed when moving from university to your first job. Don’t rush your learning, and don’t stress if you don’t get everything straight away. It’s all part of the process—growth takes time, and mistakes are just chances to learn. With the right attitude, patience, and a willingness to learn, you’ll be on your way to success! If you have any questions feel free to drop me a message or email me at hmarriner@questpersonnel.co.uk

A special shoutout to Quest Personnel for their generous contribution of £270!! especially for daring me to rock a blue tash!
