The company also undertakes development projects in house or with joint development partners and is currently developing a site at South Marston Park, Swindon where it has full planning permission for 35,000sf of high quality office space. The modern offices, are located on the Coped Hall Businesss Park, in Royal Wootton Bassett, which was developed by the company and completed in 2007. The offices provide the management team with great facilities and are close to the M4 motorway.

The Base: a space for young people designed by young people ✏️✨ Children leading on the design of a new youth centre in Park North have revealed the name and logo of the new site. The Base, formerly known as the Lyndhurst Centre, has undergone a significant transformation. Once completed, the centre will provide vital services and creative opportunities for children and young people each week in a safe, inclusive, and dynamic environment. The name and logo for The Base was chosen and designed by the children who are leading on the new building's design. They revealed the name and logo during a visit to the site by ward councillors and Cabinet Members who are supporting the project, as part of the Council's mission to build a #FairerSwindon. 33 Years, ‘Mr Reliable’ Keith Williams Retires After 33 years with the business Keith Williams has decided to take his well earned retirement. In 1978 Keith joined the company as an Estimator/Surveyor, he spent 6 years with the business before an opportunity came up to allow Keith to freelance as a QS/Estimator. During this time Keith still worked on projects with R J Leighfields, and he even refers to this period as “I never really left” In August 1997 Keith returned to R J Leighfields after a chance meeting with Simon Leighfield in a local pub. Simon worked with Keith for all his 33 years with the business, and states to this day, Keith never failed to get a tender out the door, always someone I could trust and rely on. An incredible achievement and testament to the man he is. Keith's tenure with R J Leighfields has seen him work directly with 3 generations of the Leighfield family and for the past 12-18 months he has taken a step back from chief estimating duties to spend more time at home with his wife Val and their dog. Keith was someone who always had the welfare of the company in the forefront of his mind, and for that the Leighfield family are very grateful for his service. Everyone at Leighfields wishes Keith a long and happy retirement.

A multi-million pound project to create a dedicated youth centre in Swindon is underway and is expected to be open next spring. We are transforming the inclusive facility at the currently empty Lyndhurst Centre in Park North thanks to £3.8m in funding from the Youth Investment Fund. When complete, it will have enough capacity to support more than 400 children a week. Fully refurbished by local contractor R J Leighfield & Sons Ltd, local youth support services, SMASH Youth Project, STEP SWINDON and WAY Swindon will work in partnership to deliver much needed services and opportunities. Young people have also been involved in the project from the start, advising on the types of activities they would like to see in the centre to keep those that use it engaged. Among the facilities on offer will be: 💇♂️ a hair and beauty hub 🍳 kitchens with teaching facilities 🎶 two music booths for solo artists and bands 🏋♂️ a gym 💬 counselling spaces 👦 a youth club facility 🏫 an alternative education facility ♿ Accessible services for those with special educational needs and disabilities There will also be activities for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and opportunities for young people to engage with local training and employment opportunities in the Borough.
