Over the past ten years, R1 has grown not only in size but also in capability, expertise, and the relationships we've fostered. We’ve taken on ambitious projects, navigated an ever-evolving industry, and remained committed to delivering excellence in everything we do. Yet, none of this would have been possible without the dedication, passion, and hard work of our amazing team. To make this celebration even more meaningful, we wanted to take a step back and hear from those who have been instrumental in our success. We had the privilege of sitting down with some key members of our team - Ben Tomkinson, Managing Director; Andrew Evans, Construction Director; Abi Bebb, Business Operations Manager; and Stephen Corbett, Development Director—to reflect on the incredible journey R1 has been on, the values that have guided us, and the moments that define who we are today. Through their insights, we explore what makes R1 such a special place to work, from our commitment to quality and safety to the strong relationships we've built with clients and partners, and the deep-rooted values that have always set us apart. R1 Construction Completes Two Projects and Launches Another, Achieving a £1.2 Million Investment in the Education Sector with YMD Boon. R1 Construction is proud to announce the completion of two standout projects and the launch of a new venture this month, all in partnership with YMD Boon. The combined value of these three projects totals £1.2 million, underscoring R1 Construction’s commitment to delivering cost-effective and energy-efficient buildings in the education sector. In collaboration with YMD Boon—a distinguished team of architects, construction consultants, and health and safety experts—and R1 Construction, a specialist in modern methods of construction (including SIPs and timber frames), traditional new builds, and refurbishments, these projects represent a shared vision of enhancing educational facilities across the East and West Midlands. Achieved through CIF (condition improvement funding), the recently completed projects at Oakthorpe Primary School and Tugby Primary School in Leicestershire have provided both schools with urgently needed new teaching facilities delivered just in time for the new school term. Constructed using timber frame and the Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) method, these high-performance buildings offer durability, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Following these successes, construction has started at Moreton & Morrell Primary School in Warwickshire. This latest project, which involves replacing a dilapidated mobile classroom with a SIPs-constructed, single-storey building, is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Commenting on the completed projects and the new initiative in Warwickshire, Mark Berrill, Associate Building Surveyor at YMD Boon, said: We are thrilled to continue our partnership with R1 Construction, delivering high-quality learning environments that meet the evolving needs of the education sector. The projects at Oakthorpe and Tugby have demonstrated how modern construction methods can enhance energy efficiency, reduce costs, and provide long-term value for schools. 🎉 Celebrating Abi’s Next Adventure! 👶✨ This week, we gathered to mark a truly special milestone for one of our own, Abi Bebb, who is heading off on maternity leave. Of course, we couldn’t let her go without a proper send-off! The office was filled with laughter and well-wishes as we surprised Abi with a delightful baby shower. It was the perfect way to celebrate and show our excitement for this new chapter in her life. Abi, we’ll miss your presence while you’re away, but we couldn’t be happier for you. Wishing you all the best as you prepare to welcome your little one into the world. 💕

R1 Partners with Telford College to Provide Work Experience for 18 Students! R1 is excited to partner with Telford College to provide students with an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. From November to March 2025, each of the 18 students will spend two full days on-site at R1 Living’s Webb Crescent development, currently under construction for The Wrekin Housing Group. This placement offers students practical, industry-relevant experience that complements their coursework. Abi Bebb, Business Operations Manager at R1, shared, “As a construction company, partnering with Telford College to nurture future industry talent is incredibly rewarding. Giving students exposure to an active building site allows them to develop practical skills and gain insights that simply can’t be taught in the classroom. We’re delighted to support these students on their path towards successful careers in construction.” Telford College’s Work Experience Coordinator, Ange Jones, added: “At Telford College, we are always seeking new opportunities with employers to help our students get invaluable industry experience. R1 Construction is proud to announce a donation of £1,000 to Mind’s Veterans Café in Dawley, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting social value initiatives. This contribution, made in conjunction with our housing development at Webb Crescent, Telford, will fund a seaside trip and afternoon tea next summer for local veterans—a much-anticipated event that many have expressed excitement about. Mind’s Veterans Café provides vital support and a sense of community to veterans of all ages, offering a safe space where they can connect and access help when needed.
