What causes do you care about? Take a minute and have a think. That's what #GivingTuesday is all about. Raise Your Hands began in 2014 when Ed Wethered and Chris Kirkland asked themselves that very question. The answer then, as it is now, remains the same: improving the lives of disadvantaged children and young people here in the UK. If you share this in common with us - then RAISE YOUR HANDS 🙌 and support our Christmas Challenge this #GivingTuesday. https://lnkd.in/eNivzuFy

We believe in exceptional small charities
About us
In the corporate world, great ideas are rewarded. Funds quickly flow to the most effective companies. In the charity sector that isn’t always the case. The big names with big budgets receive the lion’s share of income, irrespective of their effectiveness. At Raise Your Hands we find and select small charities with proven impact. We work with companies and people who want a different experience of giving and confidence that funds will be well spent. We introduce them to a portfolio of organisations they wouldn’t find otherwise. Then we provide experiences of giving that are something out of the ordinary. Launched in 2015, to date we have raised over £1.6m for our selected charity partners. Raise Your Hands is a charity (CIO) registered in England & Wales, charity no. 1174956.

We need your help. This Christmas, we’re raising £50,000 so we can bring two new charities onto the Raise Your Hands platform. We know there are many incredible small charities out there, changing young lives for the better. Donate today and help us build something that will last far beyond Christmas. It's United Nations #WorldChildrensDay today - commemorating the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. In 2023, our charities collectively helped more than 78,000 children and families. And there's so much more work to be done. We choose to work with small charities, because they often work locally and understand the specific challenges faced. They’re better positioned to build relationships in the community, and help those hardest to reach. Just because they’re small doesn’t mean they don’t do work with real impact.

Shout out for volunteers! We know volunteering can come in all shapes and sizes and has the ability to be life changing. Our partner, YouMeBumBumTrain - the cult immersive theatre experience that opens in London on 26th November - is run and built by volunteers. They are all working together to create something incredible, and that something incredible is changing the lives of children and young people one set-build/ cup of tea/ costume design, at a time. Small charities transform lives every day. Their work has impact and yet they don’t get the funding they deserve. Did you know that the largest 5% of charities in the UK receive 88% of the income? Our mission is to provide a sustainable source of funding for exceptional small children's charities, who can be agile, innovative and responsive to needs, without the bureaucracy and politics of larger organisations. We do this because we want to see disadvantaged children in the UK rise and fulfil their potential. Join us. It's Trustees' Week so we asked our newest Trustee Rossa Shanks for some insights into why he joined us, how he ensures he's making a positive impact and what advice he would give to anyone considering volunteering their time in the same way. To all the trustees in the charity sector - thank you for your support, skills and guidance. #trusteesweek #charitytrustee #smallcharities

Huge congratulations and thank you for all of your support so far. Utterly delicious and doing good too. It's a win-win!
We're THRILLED to announce that Throwdown has won SILVER in the Great British Food Awards ☕️ This has been a hard secret to keep for the last few months, but we're overjoyed that our charity blend has been recognised for it's great taste (as well as doing good!) If you didn't know already, Throwdown was created in partnership with Raise Your Hands to improve and impact the lives of children and young people across the UK by donating 50p from every bag sold to 14 exceptional small charities. With notes of Milk Chocolate, Blackcurrant and Peach Iced Tea, the coffee blend has sweet berry like acidity, balanced against heavy mouthfeel and smooth undertones. Today marks the start of National Care Leavers Week – a national campaign to raise awareness of the issues that those in care face. We know from our work with Become that children in care rarely get favours or leg-ups. There are over 100,000 children in care in the UK but simply not enough places for them to live. Some children are moved multiple times each year, having to build new relationships or change schools, without the stability of a place to call home. When they succeed it is often despite the system, not because of it. Become’s mission is to help children in care and young care leavers believe in themselves – to heal, grow and unleash their potential. You can find out more about this brilliant charity here: https://lnkd.in/eP-inbZm #NCLW #charitypartnership #raiseyourhands #smallcharity #ryhcharity #NationalCareLeaversWeek
