As the excitement of the Euros captivates fans across the country, it is important to shed light on a serious and often hidden issue: the rise in domestic abuse cases during major football events. Statistics prove a strong correlation between the rise of domestic abuse cases and England’s participation in football; cases increase by 38% when the England team lose, and by 26% even if England win or draw. Therefore, many big tournaments such as the Euros signal a fearful and dangerous period. Remember there is help available. Successful Fundraising Event for Rebuilding Lives UK! On the 24th of May, our amazing Rebuilding Lives UK team hit the streets of Manchester during the Girls Aloud concert to raise vital funds for our charity. The response was incredible! We met so many wonderful people who were keen to learn about our mission and donated to support us. We were touched by how many individuals have been affected in some way by domestic abuse and were eager to help. Our CEO, Naima, shared her thoughts: "This was the first time our volunteers and I participated in a fundraising event like this. It was a proud moment for me and the rest of the Rebuilding Lives UK team to see all the volunteers come together, to get to know them, and to witness their kindness, beauty, and passion for the charity." We want to say a huge thank you and celebrate one of our trustee’s, Steve McKenna! Steve has a remarkable background, having presented shows for every major TV channel in the UK, been part of The Spice Girls' marketing team, and introduced Quentin Tarantino to Paul Haggis. Now, he runs a multi-award-winning events company, bringing his events experience, PR talent, and media connections to our charity. Steve's impressive journey includes having a hit record, presenting live at the Oscars, and despite having ADHD, he earned a doctorate in Metaphysics. Steve's dedication to helping others stems from his father, who worked for The Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. This passion has driven Steve to volunteer for The Cranfield Trust, supporting welfare charities in need of expert advice. When introduced to our founder Naima, her passion, drive, and journey inspired Steve to support her and our mission wholeheartedly.
