🌟 Promoting #netzero in North East England 🌟 This week saw the Net Zero North East England ⚡️conference in Newcastle delivered by The North East Combined Authority team led by Jess Cook. We were delighted to welcome a delegation of attendees to Dogger Bank #operations and #maintenance base in order to highlight our contribution - building the world's largest offshore windfarm! Equinor SSE Renewables Vårgrønn 👷♂️👷🏼♀️ I was delighted to join a panel at the event discussing #renewables and #heat networks and discussing all things supply chain including #suppliers #infrastructure #innovation and #skills 💡 We also welcomed some of the RenewableUK team to the O&M base including Garth Halliday, Elizabeth Conboy and Scott Young FIEP organised by our friends at North Star Andrew Duncan and Jo Lennon. It was fantastic to show them our world class facility and let them see operations in action with a #vessel 🚢mobilisation! Lots of other important stakeholder meeting including NOF board meeting, fantastic to contribute to an organisation going from strength to strength 💪 Some cold but fantastic sunshine ☀️ this week and a great view of the Port of Tyne

One of the key benefits of being part of the RenewableUK Shadow Board is the incredible personal and career development opportunities we have been given access to. We have made invaluable connections with the RenewableUK staff and Board members who have generously given of their time, experience and knowledge. Over the past few weeks we have had dedicated sessions with Ian Hunter and Susie Lind. Ian offered us incredible insight into the role of boards in company success and Susie shared her experience of being a leading woman in the industry and excelling in career progression whilst prioritising raising kids. We are excited for further calls with other Board members over the coming months.   Another perk has been receiving memberships to Women on Boards who provide a range of online tools, resources, training and access to board opportunities. Last week we attended their ‘Active Career Management’ session providing direction and the time to reflect on our own careers, where we want to go and what we need to do to get there. When we are all so busy doing the act at work, it is easy to forget to reflect on our own career development so this was an ideal opportunity to consider how we are seen, how we can be self-promoting (something women particularly are reluctant to do) and how we build an effective network. Team RenewableUK received the warmest of welcomes up in Newcastle today, and our sincere thanks for North Star and Equinor for the insightful tour 👷🏼♀️👷🏽♂️ What these companies have established at Port of Tyne is pioneering and will impact not just the advancement of the sector but the people of Newcastle for years to come ⭐️⭐️ No doubt these facilities look good, but they’ve also been expertly designed with low carbon credentials and offer an incredible working environment for their teams 🧑🤝🧑🧑🤝🧑 Getting a closer look at the complexity of delivering a project on the scale of Doggerbank was fascinating, including of course the central (but possibly overlooked) role that vessels play in all phases of the project: keeping teams moving across planning and construction, O&M, decommissioning (when it comes) and ensuring everyone is safe throughout 🚢🚢 Life on the open waves can be tough, but North Star are working to redefine what these careers are, and can offer, with comfortable living quarters, social spaces and a great menu (we can attest to that!) for their team members out at sea, and a huge range of roles “on land” to support their growing business: finance, marketing, technical ⚒️💡💻 The number of young cadets supported annually by North Star also speak to their focus on building a pipeline of engaged, skilled and passionate individuals ready to contribute to this exciting sector 👧🏼👦🏾 Bravo Equinor and North Star, and thankyou for having us.
