At RES, we are dedicated to maximising the benefits renewable energy projects bring to local communities. In the Nordics, our Powerbank initiative provides funding for community projects from the very first day of a renewable energy project and continues throughout its lifetime. These funds support local development and create a better, more sustainable future for those living near our projects. Through this scheme, we supported the Näshulta Fire Brigade’s Fellowship Association - one of Sweden’s first voluntary fire brigades - in their mission to promote inclusion and diversity. The funding contributed to renovating their station’s facilities, including creating a dedicated women’s changing room. Discover more about how we’re supporting local communities in our Power for Good Report - link in the comments. #PowerForGood

With winter fast approaching in the northern hemisphere, keeping turbines spinning is a top priority. In Germany, our Services team has implemented an innovative solution to prevent ice buildup on wind turbine blades, enhancing site safety and asset efficiency. At a wind farm in the Black Forest, the team introduced preventative blade heating - a proactive measure to keep blades ice-free and ensure smooth operations. Previously, turbines were shut down for extended periods to de-ice the blades. Now, with heating activated during operation, ice-related downtime has been reduced by approximately 50%. 🔗 Read the case study - link in the comments. #PowerForGood #Innovation #WeatherMaintenance #Blades

This week at the #G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the UK Prime Minister launched the Global Clean Power Alliance, with the UK and Brazil co-leading its first Mission. This landmark initiative brings together 12 countries to accelerate global collaboration between developed and developing nations, tackling critical barriers to clean energy deployment.   We welcome this strengthened commitment to the global energy transition and are excited to see participation from key markets such as Brazil, Chile, and Australia—regions where we are expanding our services across wind, solar, BESS, and green hydrogen.   Latin America is a growth region for RES, with significant pipeline opportunities in Mexico, Brazil, and Chile. These, along with our significant portfolio in Australia, will continue to fuel the next phase of clean energy development.   With over 27GW of renewable energy projects delivered globally and 41GW of operational assets supported in our 40+ year history, we’re proud to play a role in advancing clean power solutions worldwide.   We look forward to seeing how the Alliance’s work will open new opportunities to deliver clean energy at scale. https://lnkd.in/d2cNUpdJ #RenewableEnergy #CleanPowerAlliance

Vivid debate around the cost and profitability predictions for #offshorewind at Norwegian Offshore Wind's event this morning. My key points being that * Noone holds the crystal ball, but based on more than twenty years' experience developing offshor wind around the world, RES is confident that cost will continue to decrease, including for #floating #offshorewind * Maturity and cost reduction for new technologies is pendent on volume and scale. Onshore wind and solar saw 70% and 90% cost reduction respectively over the past decade. More projects will bring costs down. * Norway has a unique position as an early mover in floating wind, and decades of offshore experience that can be brought to bear. Developing a home market means jobs for Norwegian industry and opportunities to build new export indsutries. *Multiple delays and mixed signals from Government about Norway's ambitions for OW adds unnecessary risk to the market and may scare away international developers. As a result, you may actually get less competition and higher prices than obtained in other markets. *Let't not forget why we do offshore wind in the first place: The climate crisis requires radical action. Even in Norway, with all our hydropower, 50% of all energy consumption is based on fossil fuels. We need more, renewable power, and offshore wind will surely be part of the solution. Doing nothing is simply too pricy. Cost predictions in offshore wind will shape public opinion and influence policy makers. We need to stay updated and nuanced 💡 It was inspiring to hear analysts on stage in Oslo today, discussing the various predictions and what lies behind them. A full packed house is evidence that the industry is hungry for insight. Thank you to our friends in Offshore Norge for organising these discussions together with us. A special thank you to Kjetil Lund, director of Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat, for meeting the industry and debating the findings from the directorate's latest prediction. Delving into analysis is important to understand the various factors driving costs. Rystad Energy, Menon Economics and DNV guided us through their ways of thinking in a brilliant manner. No one holds a crystal ball, but luckily, we see clear tendencies that costs - both for bottom fixed and floating - are going down!
