2024 - Restaurant & Bar Design Awards / Dubai Trip Last week I traveled to Dubai for a long weekend and stayed at FIVE Palm Jumeirah Hotel Luxury Hotel & Resort on Palm Jumeirah, I visited several restaurants and bars including avli by tashas, AURA SKYPOOL, SUSHISAMBA Dubai, Signor Sassi Dubai, MOLI by SHI, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, Atlantis The Royal, Ling Ling, The Guild Dubai and many more. Oh, how Dubai has changed since I last visited in 2015 when we organised an event at Mint Leaf of London, Dubai with Gina Munro, Isabel Pintado, Tim Mutton, Robert Angell, Steve La Bouchardiere DesignLSM (we will miss him forever). I want to thank Firas Alsahin for being an amazing host for the duration of the trip. A highlight of the trip was the visit to AYA Universe. In its 16th year, it recognises and celebrates the world’s most creative spaces and the people behind them. There are five categories to cover each of the following regions: Europe, Americas, Asia, Middle East and Africa, Australia & Pacific. There are also 13 other global categories, which are open to everyone. All entries are automatically considered for the best restaurant/bar award for their region as well as for the ultimate global awards of Best Overall Restaurant and Best Overall Bar. Lifestyle hospitality is all about how we connect with local culture and encourage guests to explore and integrate with the community.⁠ ⁠ For as long as I can remember I’ve seen bad examples of geographical references built into Interior Design in superficial ways.
