We are delighted to have now handed over Diamond Place, the award winning new Extra Care scheme in the village of Welton near Lincoln, to LACE Housing Association. With the first residents due to move in very soon, this exciting new development promotes independent living and a sense of community, providing 62 one bedroom apartments for rent and 10 two bedroom bungalows available to buy. Its modern, practical and comfortable surroundings provide a restaurant, communal lounge, treatment room and landscaped gardens. It was named Diamond Place to mark the year in which the Association celebrates its Diamond Jubilee and was created in partnership with West Lindsey District Council Lincolnshire County Council and with the support of the Parish Council and Government's Homes England. It is great to be able to support local social enterprises at our events wherever possible. A huge thank you to ‘CoffeBreak’ who recently provided our site team and guests with hot and tasty refreshments from their mobile cafe van. Much needed on a somewhat chilly, grey day at a local school steel signing in Silfield, Wymondham. CoffeeBreak is an initiative from the East Anglian based charity Break, who work with children and young people on the edge of care, in care and leaving care. This amazing enterprise provides young people work experience through setting up and serving from the van, and a safe space to learn new skills for employment. After just over two years at the picturesque location on Orwell Quay in Ipswich, we have now completed the cladding refurbishment project across Phases 1 and 2, ensuring that all 222 homes on this development now meet the correct fire safety standards of certification. The first homes in the front in Anchor and Patteson blocks completed at the end of ‘23, with this 2nd Phase of the final 99 homes now revealing the newly stripped and upgraded façades, as seen left from Haven Marina. All of the blocks had rain-screen cladding and terracotta tiles removed and replaced, and the once timber cladding, replaced with a composite alternative. The project has required a steady and methodical process, and its success is a testament to the positive engagement with residents living in the apartments throughout these live works. Treasurer of the Norwich Forum for the Construction Industry from R G Carter JONATHAN GIBBINS, was proud to visit The Hamlet Charity to present a donation from the monies raised at this year’s NFCI Quiz held at the Maids Head Hotel in Norwich. Jayne Buckingham, Children’s Service Senior Manager and Jenny Kane, Marketing and Development Officer of The Hamlet Centre can be seen here receiving the cheque at this wonderful facility in Norwich city centre. At the new Norfolk primary school in Silfield near Wymondham, we were delighted to host a steel signing ceremony to celebrate the milestone completion of the steel frame. Representatives of Norfolk County Council, Unity Schools Partnership, consultants NPS Group and Roy Sykes, and new headteacher Emily McMillen, all made their mark on the steel structure of this new 420-pupil new school. Due to open in September 2025 it will support the ever-growing population in the area of Wymondham in Norfolk.
