  • A huge thank you to all who attended last Thursdays event- Designing inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ+ Community. There was lots of interesting and thought-provoking discussions highlighting the importance of designing spaces which are inclusive and reflective of the diverse needs of the LGBTQ+ community. As a next step we will be using the key takeaways and feedback from the event to inform and develop a practical toolkit. Image credit: Pete Carr

  • Join Lancaster and Westmorland Society of Architects (LAWSA) and Lancaster School of Architecture on 5 December for the third lecture in their Autumn series with Mary Arnold-Forster- MAFA. MAFA are a small architectural practice based in rural Scotland. They were formed by Mary in 2016 to create quiet, humane, restrained and beautifully crafted places and spaces based on a rigorous study of site, context, landscape and brief to try to create a backdrop for people’s work, their art and lives. MAFA's work spans from the Lake District in the south to Orkney in the North. Currently, they have 22 projects in the office with 7 on site. They design based on studies of the specifics of site and the materials used. They aim to use as many natural and local materials in their builds as is practical. The result will produce a cross pollination of ideas with attendees working together to come up with ideas for inclusive spaces, through sketches and plasticine models. 📍 Liverpool Central Library 📅 1.30pm - 6pm, Thursday 21 November 🎟️ Free tickets available via Eventbrite: https://lnkd.in/e583iYuK 📸 Drafts & Draughts Liverpool Architecture Festival 2024 Organised by the RIBA North West EDI Group in partnership with LCR Pride and funded by the RIBA Local Initiative fund

  • Join Lancaster and Westmorland Society of Architects (LAWSA) and Lancaster School of Architecture for a lecture from Will Burges of award winning 31/44 Architects next Thursday 21 November. 31/44 believe in an architecture of continuity; moving forwards whilst working with the diverse, established characters and qualities of the places we find. As a profession we must participate in an urgent response to the climate emergency. In this rapidly evolving context is an architecture of continuity still possible? Can we achieve buildings with a mass and dignified presence within this alternative framework of evaluation? Register your free place via Eventbrite: https://lnkd.in/eUQkRfXx
