    Very honoured to have been asked to talk at the RIBA North West planning round table with Trafford Council Planning Department. A lot of subjects covered from the adopted design code, design certifiers to meaningful cooperative working. Great to have a good representation of architects in the room.

    We are in Manchester!! We are thrilled to launch the 2025 WIA UK Mentoring Programme with a record-breaking number of applicants and our first-ever event in Manchester! We will celebrate the inspiring mentors and mentees who are part of this year’s programme, providing a platform for fresh perspectives and honouring those committed to personal growth and supporting others. Our discussion, Shifting Perspectives: Seeing the Unseen, will feature keynote speeches from Dr Lucy Montague and Rebecca Coley, and panellists will share where they believe perspectives need to shift in the industry. Their unique stories, research and experiences will shine a light on aspects of architecture and the wider built environment that aren’t seen by all.     Studio MUTT is an architecture and design studio based in Liverpool and London. Graham Burn is a founding director of Studio MUTT alongside James Crawford and Alexander Turner. The Liverpool- and London-based studio was established in 2017 with the ambition of creating characterful public-facing work. Graham has overseen significant cultural and public-facing projects including Bags at the V&A, the Offbeat Sari at the Design Museum, and the transformation of Pool Meadow in Coventry. His current work includes lifting the roof off Stretford Mall to create a mixed-use outdoor town centre and a major exhibition on the social and political power of gardening at the British Library. He was taught at the University of Liverpool by Prof. David Dunster, and by Prof. Jonathan Hill at the Bartlett in Unit 12, before working at Stirling Prize-winning Allford Hall Monaghan Morris on major urban projects including the retrofit of Peter Foggo’s 1 FA at Broadgate. Graham has taught at the Bartlett, Oxford Brookes University, University of Brighton, University of Greenwich, and most recently NOW, a practice-led teaching studio formed by Studio MUTT at University of Liverpool.     Join us in Manchester on 12 Feb for a talk from Geoff Rich (Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios)) Geoff takes a leading role in the practice’s heritage, creative re-use and regeneration work. Geoff is a member of Historic England’s Historic Places Panel, a UK Design Council Expert, and Chairman of the Fabric Advisory Committee for Exeter Cathedral. He'll be sharing the story of how FCB revived Shrewsbury Flaxmill, an exemplar RIBA Award winning project that will support the next 100 years of use for a building with a particularly innovative design heritage.     RIBA North East: J.E.D.I. talk, Inclusive design[ers] 22 January, 5pm to 6.30 pm Online We are delighted that this event will be chaired by Chithra Marsh. Caring and collaborative in spirit, bringing people together is Chithra’s get-out-of-bed purpose. As former National Chair of Women in Property (WiP), she hopes to leave an indelible mark on the property industry with her commitment to “bringing people into focus”. With nearly three decades of experience as an architect, in her role as a Director at Buttress Architects she leads on community regeneration projects, including those funded through Levelling Up alongside the “Community” and social value areas of the practice’s B Corps business strategy. EDI principles are threaded throughout her career and in her volunteer roles with WiP and the RIBA (Regional and National Councils and co-chair of the NW EDI Committee), supporting an equitable profession. For the last fifteen years, she has also been a strategic ambassador for PLACED, a social enterprise specialising in place education and engagement. Most recently she has become a supporter and mentor with the Future of Greater Manchester and their Diverse Voices programme. A not-for-profit supporting the next generation of urban leaders through knowledge, leadership and connection.
