A neighbourhood arts centre without walls

About us

We are the Sheffield arts centre without a building. Instead, our programme takes place in parks, supermarkets, community centres, high streets, car parks, empty shops, libraries, schools, and care homes - temporarily transforming them into theatres, galleries, workshops, classrooms and forums. We are proudly based in Hillsborough, and work across North Sheffield. We create and curate exciting shows, projects and events in unexpected places. We lead creative workshops that bring together people of all ages and walks of life to learn new skills. We share ideas from around the world: thinking globally and acting locally. Our projects are about people, and place. We celebrate. We question. We play. We believe access to culture is a human right, and our definition of culture is broad: our remit includes gardening, cooking, crafts, cinema, languages and sports as often as it includes theatre, dance, music and visual arts. Our approach is inclusive, intergenerational and environmentally sustainable. We prioritise respect, kindness and care: for our community, for our team, for our collaborators, and for the planet. From April 2022 we will be the lead delivery partners for Gathering Ground, a new activity and wellbeing centre in Hillsborough Park, in collaboration with Age UK Sheffield. Our vibrant year-round programme there will include theatre, cinema, gardening, woodwork, crafts, cooking, languages and more.

  • We are sickened by the racist violence that has taken place across Britain in the last few days. We stand in solidarity, rage, and grief with the people who have been targeted, in particular Muslims, migrants and our friends and partners in Rotherham. The diverse communities we serve are our priority, and our organisation is committed to anti-racist community work and partnerships in South Yorkshire and beyond. If you think we could lend you or your organisation support or resource in any way, please get in touch. Locally, if you're feeling unsafe out and about in Hillsborough, our shop front is always available to you when it's open. Just ring our doorbell and we'll be happy to invite you in, help you make a call, chat if you want to, or just make you a cup of tea. We must protect and care for each other. RivelinCo

  • It's #EarthDay, so what better day to tell you about Share & Repair, our community repair shop and skill share? Hear two of our brilliant volunteers tell you all about it in this video! Share & Repair takes place several times per year and moves around the area. The next one will be 12pm - 3pm on Saturday 13th July at Winn Gardens TARA office, which is at 126 Winn Drive (where the food bank is on Thursdays). It's FREE! Many thanks to Sean Lovell and Local Storytelling Exchange for the film 💚
