RateMyApprenticeship is bringing our trusted apprentice voice with reviews written by those who have been there and done it, and partnering with the Government and their focus on diversity and completion of programme within their criteria, ensuring the new merged table is more comprehensive than ever. To ensure we remain accessible and supportive to everyone looking to join us through our Graduate and Summer Internship opportunities, I’m really excited to share some of the improvements that the Early Careers team at Barnett Waddingham have made to our application process. 📄 We've removed CVs from our pre-assessment day selection process to focus on potential rather than past experience. 🔑 We’ve enhanced accessibility through improved screening questions and offering adjustments like extra time for testing. 🗓️ A "What to Expect" Guide, providing detailed information about the assessment day, is shared with applicants in advance. 🧠 All assessors now receive Unconscious Bias Training before assessment days. 🧘 Quiet Spaces are available during assessment days for candidates who need them. And on our final day, we're celebrating amazing apprentice stories. 📣 85% of Gen Z students told us they want to see more employee-generated content from businesses. They see value in hearing from students who have been in their shoes - hearing insider application tips and stories from their own journey and experiences as an apprentice: “Showcase the impact that employees can make within your company. Students want to know that their work will be meaningful and contribute to something larger. 🔷 National Apprenticeship Week: What can employers do to keep apprentices engaged? 🔷 I'm a huge advocate of apprenticeships being a fantastic route into the workforce, however the sad truth is that currently a whopping 47% apprentices drop out before they complete their programme. To try and solve this issue, how can employers & training providers ensure apprentices stay the course? In a recent RateMyApprenticeship survey, we asked Gen Z “What can employers do to prevent apprentices from dropping out?” Their responses revealed seven key areas where employers & training providers can make a real difference: ✅ Communication & support 📌 Stay in touch before day one and respond to concerns quickly. ✅ Clear information about the role 📌 Be upfront about salary, job responsibilities and career pathways. ✅ Welcoming & inclusive culture 📌 Ensure apprentices feel valued and supported. ✅ Defined career progression 📌 Show clear opportunities for growth and development. ✅ Fair pay & benefits 📌 Offer competitive pay to make apprenticeships financially sustainable. ✅ Mentorship & guidance 📌 Provide mentors or buddies who can guide and support them. ✅ Wellbeing & work-life balance 📌 Recognise the importance of mental health and flexible working.
